Hey bud, at this point it's simply professional curiosity. I got these boxes as we're busy developing tunes for diesel cars based on the Alpina flashes so I needed Mechatronics to play with.

I will also be testing some performance modifications on these boxes so that they can handle more power, especially for the guys with tuned cars.

So, what I'm saying in a long winded way is that I'm not taking on general gearbox rebuilding for the public at the moment. I can highly recommend the guys from ZF for this as they are the real experts when it comes to these.

Now I'm even more interested!

This specific box suffered from excessive slipping. This is due to wear on all the pressure plates.

Thank you for making a thread about this, Im curious to know what would cause the slipping would it be normal wear and tear or could it be driver abuse. eg Driving like a nutjob or not waiting for the car to be completely stationery before selecting gears P D R etc.?

I had one GA6HP19Z rebuilt on my 323i pre-lci and another one replaced on my LCI 320d. Am I breaking them or are they just unreliable 'boxes?
I sincerely hate them! Nothing but trouble. It can't shift properly from 2nd to 3rd under all conditions.

Slippage will eventually happen on all boxes. It's exactly the same concept as a normal clutch. And if the car was abused, it'll fail whether auto or manual
