my wife has a 120, the amount of money to fix everything over the years, this seems like the cheaper option.

Ya but then say bye bye to fuel economy lol.

I originally wanted to buy a 135i but when it kaks then I would have been crying lol

This looks like a fun little car. You got a build guide or pics on the build? Running the e46 n46 and on the end when it needs a rebuild this might be a great direction lol. What ecu are you running? Still got abs traction etc?

Just bought the car conversion was dodgy as the electrics don't work so unfortunately there is no build thread :( . But I have a buddy who will sort me out. For the price I paid for the car it was a steal lol

But yes you can get everything to run

So decided to take my car to zwartkops to get my buddy to check it out for me as it had a vibration and the gauges don't work. But for 40k I was expecting this lol

Filled up with some fuel. Car is very heavy on juice so it also needs a tune. When I pulled into the garage gave it a few revs and ppl were looking for this v8 monster but couldn't find it lol

6be26798f6a84277ca0c6d49fa49af3b.jpg

Anyways on the way there about 2km from the track I decided to gas it. Next minute no power total loss.

Found that the accelerator cable snapped. The idiots who did the conversion put the cable at such a bad angle it frayed and snapped. It was also secured to the pedal with cable ties lol.

So we went to Midas and got a cable not sure from which car and drilled through the firewall and boom running again.

Got my mechanic to drive it he reckons it very low on power. He reckons must feel much stronger I am shocked cause already it pulls hard !

So the vibration was caused by a shuddering flywheel and the adapter plate hasn't even been machined square.

So I decided to leave it there so it can be looked at.

There was this guy walking past the car at the track so we gave it a rev then he comes there sayin "my jinne p@3$ wat is hierdie ding" me and my buddy were finished ou made my day lol

#sleeper

Also my bushes apparently have just arrived and my Koni shocks and H&R springs to be installed soon

So my order with ECS got cancelled :(

Going to have to source the parts from eBay now but here is some of local parts I will be installing. I was hoping to get cracking this weekend but it didn't happen

So let me share what's to be installed soon...

E92 335i calipers - got a S8 Phone to compare the size

In this pic I got the brace that attaches to the subframe and chassis to reduce flex. This came on all e8x models except for e87 so for my build it's a must have lol

Also got a m3 steering rack apparently it's a good upgrade for the cars will review and update

More of my parts should be coming from AXIS this week

Nice, I saw the car parked at zwartkops yesterday, I reckon some tasteful fix ups here and there and you will have a fun car

Lookin forward to the updates

Haha thanks man. To be honest I wanna keep it sleeper. So cosmetic modifications will be minimal

Thanks for the compliments guys much appreciated. So this car had a serious vibration which has been sorted out !!!

The flywheel and adapter plate was a custom piece but never skimmed to ensure it's flat. Flywheel was also not balanced. Both flywheel and adapter plate had no dowel pins. We thought the vibration issue was a center bearing but actually it was the flywheel robbing the motor of hp as the pressure plate was also fluttering due to the missing pins. So with this sorted out we are up on power by about 20% and that's without an exhaust only headers !

So to keep to the sleeper look the following manderal bend system is currently been built.

So the headers are stock which are 4-1

The system I am getting from headers is 2 pipes with free flow boxes into an x pipe to a y pipe(big single pipe) with 2 free flow boxes. Can't remember the pipe sizes but the single pipe is 76mm

This was the old exhaust. There as so many cut and joins had a leak in the front it was a mixture of mild and stainless steel lol and don't forget about the crush bend in the rear.

So the guy I bought it from told me he used it for spinning a few times then he blew the stock 120i diff

I was always suspect if the diff they replaced it with. So decided to have a look and guess what it's a 320d diff with a 2.56 ratio we had such a lag. Car has been full of surprises lol

I plan on upgrading to a 335i E9x auto diff which has a ratio of 3.46. So this should be so much better once it's done. Will update once its mechanically sound as the wiring. Cooling. Heater valves. AC and more...

My gosh I dont know how I missed this thread.
This is so epic! Exhaust sounds really good:bravo::bravo:

I hope I'm going to get to see this in person at one of the meets.:blowheart:

Hi guys done some work made a list of all the issues. It's so bad

Most of the stuff has been sorted.

*Untuned
*Leaking custom sump
*Missing 120i ecu
*Butchered engine Harness
*Flywheel not balanced
*Flywheel not skimmed
*No dowel pins on flywheel
*No dowel pins on gearbox adapter
*Gearbox adapter not skimmed or straight edged
*clutch disintegrated
*pressure plate needed replacing
*exhaust made from 8 pieces including mild and stainless steel. Had small and big pieces restricting flow
*exhaust leaking
*electrics not working i.e. Cluster. Climate control. Rear windows (front windows opened with key).
*2nd gear touching propshaft
*high pressure power steering pipe leaking due to it being cut and joined
*fuel leak where the connection of the Lexus v8 fuel line was. The pipe had to be replaced as it was too hard to seal correctly
*airfilter extremely dirty
*diesel Diff with a ratio of 2.56. Upgraded to a 130i Diff of 3.46
*shocks don't function anymore
*rear brake pads metal on metal
*rear brake rotors hairline cracks
*front brakes have a shudder and rotors need to be replaced
*brake lights stay on
*fog lights broken
*throttle cable broke as it was installed at a 90 degree angle and cable tied to the pedal which eventually snapped
*bumper air dams misaligned
*washer fluid bottle removed
*radiator loose
*radiator fan (has 2) both are set to pull so they are pretty pointless at this point
Radiator behind plastics so airflow was restricted
*radiator needed a overfill bottle but instead an expansion tank was used. So none of the water from the radiator could be sucked back into the system after it reached boiling point
*spark plug used to block hole on power steering pump
*ac system removed
*heater valves not connected
*bonnet not catching correctly
*fuel flap not flush on body work
*wheels not balanced
*missing center brace
*bumpers aligned
*bonnet dented
*needs boot and bonnet shocks
*clutch bleed nipple broken off
*fan cowel missing
*seized left rear caliper bushing pin
*torn front fender liners

Anyways so the diff is in and man does it feel great we out in a 130i diff which is 3.46 and it feels nice and strong !

So I removed the water bottle it's purpose was a water catch tank. It was suppose to have a overflow bottle with a pipe going to the fluid incase it was needed it was also sitting much higher than the radiator. So I removed it and bought a corrolla bottle to replace it.

babc72a941ecdd30ebab721c46fcb375.jpg

Now the radiator. What a mess. It has an aluminum one but is sitting higher than the air ducts so it's getting very little flow and to make it worse it has 2 cheapie fans connected to it and they are pulling air so it's really useless !

Bought a proper fan and getting a custom cowl made and I am going to move the radiator further forward and lower it for more flow

Check this they used a spark plug to close a hole lol

cf336f57ea8685de2a6982557e77065a.jpg

So another issue I have is that there are major leaks as the oil pan was custom made and it looks like it was done with a stick welder the sump plug is held in with silicone. Lol

Power steering is also leaking as the high pressure pipes have been cut and joined and clamped which is causing it to leak like crazy

I also upgraded the brakes to 335i calipers with axis v2 guides and new rotors and pads

18" Equip reps
4aabe5279e2a4a11ef48dd72dcde7c30.jpg

The rears were also replaced but the right rear caliper guide was fused so the caliper was pretty useless. Going to replace that

Difference in pad size

Thinking of modifying this planting as my radiator flow is being affected.
