Hey guys....so I have been busy for a bit but here some updates on my Volla:
I managed to get the forge Actuator and DV installed along with some new NGK BKR8EIX sparkplugs.
Forge Actuator
Forge DV - We decided to go with the blue spring which is the stiffer.
All the bits of bobs for the DV
Installation process went as follow: We did not want to pull the whole turbo. If you pull the turbo then one needs to disconnect oil lines, water lines, disconnect the downpipe etc. etc. which involves some timely work and the risk of reusing old parts like gaskets, bolts etc.
So we took the "short route" by installing the actuator while the Turbo is mounted. This involves of disconnecting the right hand (driver side) side shaft. Here is some pictures for those that do not know how the GTi's side shaft looks
this is where the side shaft connects into the motor. If I am not mistaken....this "coupling" is where the side shaft normally snaps of when one is pushing high torque/power. Hopefully this never happens to me.
Ultimately why I did this mods is because the OEM stuff does not last very long (as I want reliability and my old actuator was already on its way out....one could turn/rotate the actuator rod quite freely) and for the smoother power delivery because the stiffer Forge actuator holds the boost much better through the whole rev range.
The Rev H diverter valve is solenoid operational where the forge diverter valve is spring operated. I also think one needs to "service" the forge dv time and again with a "rebuild kit" which consists on new O-ring seal(s) and spring(s) which is not very costly. Oh and some grease...hehehe
Here is the old actuator and Rev H DV
Here is some NGK BKR8EIX goodness gapped to 0.65mm
For those that is wondering....I am happy to say and confirm that the Revo Stage 3 TSi File is more than capable enough of accommodating the Forge Actuator. :thumb:
Now its time for some more dyno time at KAR and to see if I can beat my 238wkw and 506Nm. (This was on P3 setting with some NF ultra mixed to plus/minus 25litres of 95 petrol)
This time I will be going along with my trusty Devils Own Meth setup and Forge goodness.
Thanks Revo for all the hard work put into my GTi. I believe we have maxed out the K04 setup in the past year and a half.
You still have a happy Revo customer and I hope you deliver this kind of service which I experienced to other new/old customers. :=):
For those that do not want to read my whole ride thread....this is what I have done so far:
Revo Stage 3 software
Borg Warner K04 Transverse Kit (no need for DV relocation)
EVOM's Intake
Stage 2 Piper cross intake
R8 Coils with BKR8EIX sparkplugs
S3 intercooler
Forge Twin cooler
76mm downpipe with OEM back section.
Eibach drive gear springs
Dog bone insert
Devils Own stage 2 progressive meth kit with upgraded 300psi pump,CTS boost tap, D05 nozzle
Forge Actuator
Forge Diverter valve
Powerbrake upgrade which consists of uprated Discs, Endless Brakepads, braided brake lines and some RF650 racing brake fluid.
Cosmetic:
Gloss black side mirrors and diffuser with a few Revo stickers here and there.
That's all from me now....next to come is some weight reduction which will be after market wheels, light weight battery, most probably some light weight bucket seats and then I want to chase the 1km at ODi!
Thanks for reading
Rommies out :=):
