I don't know about you guys....but oil change on a car is very important to me. Especially when your ride is not stock anymore.
Here is a quick DIY for those that do not know.
I changed the oil, oil filter & petrol filter change at 21500km (when we did the k04 conversion)....on 30 000km she went to VW for her second service..now my she is currently 38 000km and its time again...I always try to do oil change at 7500km. (I take the normal VW 15000km intervals and divide it in two)
I used OEM oil filter with Shell Helix ultra 5w40 full synthetic VW502/505 oil. I love this oil as it has a very high viscosity index rating of 187 which keeps good lubrication at high temps!
went for a short drive till oil temp were about 60 degrees Celsius and then drained the oil. I left it for a good 30min to drip ( I can feel the oil is actually still "good" and the colour is nice and brown)
always take some oil and rub it on the new oil filter seal.
Tighten by hand nice and firm.
always check your other fluids while you at it.
fill oil up...and check your dipstick till it is on the "full" mark. Remember to fill up oil in intervals of 5min so it can "seep" through the engine parts and get into your sump before checking the dipstick.
Go for a short drive....remember...your oil filter needs to fill up. After the short drive...leave your car for a good 30min. then check the oil level again. I'm pretty sure you need to add a little bit more.
PS: Do not over tighten your sump plug. (you do not want to strip it)
Also after the oil change....check the next morning if you see any oil leaks under the car. You may have "under tightened" your sump plug or your sump plug (copper washer) may not seal properly and I advise getting a new one from the dealers.
I also however do not recommend "plumber tape/thread seal tape" as this can break off and get into your oil/engine.
I also changed my tires from Achilles to 225/35/19 TOYO PROXES T1 SPORT. What a massive difference in in handling/grip and comfort. The car sounds so much quieter from inside the cabin. It is really worth it to spend the extra 5k and get the proper stuff. If I'm not mistaken the high performance Audis like the Audi R8 comes with the Toyo Proxes T1 sport from the factory.
Thanks for reading!
