So I once again DIY'd my brake upgrade:

Wheel off, Ready to take off the brake caliper and disc.

Tensioner spring, Two Size 7 allen key bolts (with their plastic caps) and your whole caliper comes off. Easy...

Brembo disc vs Powerbrake disc

Brembo 4 pot caliper vs OEM 1 pot caliper

Brembo disc fitted on driver side

Brembo disc, caliper, new brake pads and the given braided brake lines fitted (driver side)

Same procedure was followed on the other side (passenger side)

Everything went smoothly but I have one dilemma....My OEM Detroit wheels (18" 7.5J ET51) does not clear over the brembo calipers. I must invest in a new set of wheels with a more aggressive offset like ET45,43,41.
At this stage it seems like more of an offset problem, rather than diameter problem. So hopefully I don't need a 19" set. (I would like to keep 18" wheels though as I don't want to sacrifice the ride comfort).
I guess I could go the temporarily cheap route and use some wheel spacers rather than forking out 15k on a set of wheels.

All in all....this brembo kit is one quality piece of kit. I have already bled the brakes & I can't wait to get onto the brake pedal and feel the brake wors....I mean force.

video I found on youtube of Ed30 GTi brembo upgrade...looks sw33T!

I got this for a good price. (2nd hand though) and Powerbrake big brake kits cost anything from 20k-30k which I unfortunately can't afford.

So I finally got the desired look and setup.

19" 8.5J ET45 VMR V705 wheels couples with 225/35/19 tyres (including 5mm spacers in front)

And this is the result:

It just clears the calipers with about 2mm.
These achillies tyres are super crap....but they will have to work for now.

I'm also getting hub specific H&R 5mm spacers from MJP. (thanks a lot bud for helping me out on such short notice.)

Then my car should be sorted for the Dubrun!

NO :thumbdo:
I would rather leave it as it is than make my wheels look like tippex or plascon or dulax painted :fencelook:

So DUBRUN 2014 went down this past long weekend and man it was awesome. The convoy experience was really nice. I tried to gopro every car on the road. I will look/edit the videos and see what I can come up with.

I would like firstly to thank MJP for helping me out with the H&R 5mm spacers. He was kind enough to take them off from his car and give it to me. If I didn't have these spacers dubrun wouldn't be possible for me. The H&R (hub specific) spacers also sorted out the hectic vibration I had. Thanks once again man. I really appreciate it.

Then I would like to say thank you to Lee & Riaan for helping me with the "polizei theme" tape up. They did an awesome job and our rides looked unique. I was the bikini inspector
It was also nice meeting up with familiar faces. I also made a couple of new friends and just realised once again how helpful/caring the VAG community is.

here is some pictures.
Thursday night at tape up

Saturday we went to Stealth Dyno / Show 'n Shine and this was my dyno results on P3, meth and OB1

I would also like to thank Ian, CT and their SO's for having us on Sunday for lunch & dinner.
Thank you vwclubsa for the awesome dubrun! :bravo:
