Hi guys I need some diagnostic help. Wifeys car has been using some oil for some time now. Maybe 1 litre every 6 months. So after a little bit of an engine clean. I discovered this

I know it's a gasket I just don't know which one. Tapet cover or head gasket? Or both ? Yes it is a small leak at the little yellow sensor as well and on the gasket below too !

Suggestions ?
Thanx

Either tappet cover or grommet.
You will only establish which once you remove the plastic sound cover off the engine

So I had some time to strip the covers today and here's what I found http://img.tapatalk.com/d/

It seems the oil was coming from the oil cap ! I then went on to remove the filler cap, clean, turned the seals inside the cap around and made sure everything was nice and snug. Then
I went on to clean the accumulated leaky oil which was filling up on the tapet cover in the holes alongside the plugs.

Resulting in a nice oil free area to spot any leaks. After putting back all covers I took the car for a spirited drive and voila no oil yet after 10kms.

Hopefully this is a nice fix that only cost some time and clean green.

I also noticed that. The noise from the lifters have also disappeared. So it looks like the inadequate seal on the cap was possibly causing a pressure problem which resulted in the lifters being not properly lubricated ! But that's my assumption with my limited mechanical knowledge!

I'll keep you updated if anything changes!
