Went out for a drive last Saturday night and ended up getting a tow back home . Was on the freeway and started to see smoke in the mirror so I cruised to the nearest service station and was greeted by this disaster. Oil everywhere on the exhaust side of the engine . Checked the oil level and it was low so decided to tow it home .

Next morning we strip and identify that the vanos oil line is compromised.

Cut open the oil filter and couldn’t find any cause for concern. Sad that the oil, Ceratec and filter did less than 500kms but I didn’t want to cheap out and for peace of mind I replaced everything.

Ordered new parts and then drained the rest of the oil from the car

New oil filter and seals

Filled up the OFH and and sealed it .

Then the Ceratec

And the fresh oil

Pushed it out and washed up all the oil from the engine bay

In the end it was oil free again

Lovely diy!

That’s the way to go......100% surety on the work parts etc.

What’s the purpose of the ceratec and are seeing the benefits ?

Thanks bud basically Ceratech is an anti friction additive. It’s suppose to reduce wear caused by friction . I use it since we hit high oil temps on track so for my application it’s a an extra layer of risk management under higher temps and engine loads .

Most recent Update : Stock pedal covers were worn down a lot so I fitted a set of aluminum ones that I had ordered from the US earlier in the year.

The new dead pedal is too big for the Z4 so I will have to measure and trim it to fit in order to use it , will attend to it soon. But for now I’ve fitted the 3 pedals and it’s super nice .

These ones have heel and toe extensions and just make it a little easier to rev match through gears .

All done

Nicely done on the oil line replacement. Now with a very near oil change to the last one you know the oil in the motor is now tip top!
Pedals look awesome too!

Amazing intake. I almost pulled the trigger on getting one of these. The wait time combined with the transport crisis Covid has introduced is what ultimately made me decide otherwise.

I must say I am VERY surprised you were allocated a unit. My thoughts were it would be many months before more units where made available.

I have ordered many parts from Turner in the past and enjoyed how speedily their customer support or shipping was, but due to this specific part being brand new and only a few being made, just wanted an idea on how long it took from order till delivery?

Also, what tune are you running with it?

Super envious.

In an earlier post I mentioned that I had partnered with a US tuner (Severn tuning) who specializes in tuning the MSS70 ecu. I gathered all the data/logs.ect needed to build the alpha N map and sent it over to them, they build the map send it to me and I load it and test it here, if changes need to be made then we adjust accordingly and test on the Dyno. Each map is 100% custom to each specific car based on vehicle data and modifications.

Regarding the intake , my friend who I also do business with is the ECS tuning Distributor for SA , he ordered the intake for me, it took about 4-5 months to arrive .

4 - 5 months to wait for a part .......yup I agree with Crash_Nemesis on this one, That alone would have stopped me from ordering one if I had an S54 motor. I am far too impatient for that kind of wait.
