What a beaut of a car!
Really wish I had a lift so I too can play with my car! So envious! :inlove:

Thanks mr , It sure makes things a hell of a lot easier. I use it regularly and it’s my favorite garage purchase to date.

It’s this time of year again where I do my annual Service . This time I figured I’ll also address some other things so the car is in good shape and ready for the track at the end of the month.

Things we were going to do:
Engine Major service
Cooling system flush and bleed
Power steering flush and bleed
Diff oil flush and bleed

My list of parts where as follows:
c59f150eef083f04d46376b94ed32aaf.jpg

I got the majority of parts from Jaco @ Delarey and then the oil filter , diff oil (M LSD Specific) and wiper blades from bmw . The diff oil is very expensive R550 for 500ml. You need 3 bottles . I also changed the Liqui Moly Hydraulic fluid for Castrol ATF DEX3 as that is the correct power steering fluid for this vehicle.

Then I went for a small drive got everything warm, came back, put the car on the lift and started out by draining the engine oil.
526d0af6ac683cc8a34f8355b2f1acf3.jpg

Left that to properly drain for about 2 hrs then

Replaced the crush washer and refitted the sump plug and torqued it.

Next I went over to the rear and drained the diff oil out

Then I went back to the front and opened the power steering line to drain the fluid.

Also got new O-rings for the power steering line which I had opened to drain from .

Next I replaced the air filter.

Removed the old oil filter . It said 122450kms was when it was replaced .

We on 125500kms now so a total of 3050kms have been covered since the last oil service a year ago. New filter marked with mileage.

And then installed

Swapped over the O-rings and installed the OFH cap and bolt then torqued down .

Old filter didn’t look to bad either , didn’t bother to cut it up and check for any metallic particles so I threw it in the bin.

Called it a day and left

The next day I started out by draining the cooling system. First the radiator and reservoir then the engine block.

After it had all drained out , we closed the drains and filled up with 60/40 mix of coolant and distilled water . Total capacity filled was about 10.5 liters .

Next up I filled the Ceratec in and then topped up with the LM 10w60 oil (not sure why I didn’t get a pic filling the oil)

Then I removed the coils and plugs and fitted the new set, torqued to spec , think it was 23nm on the box

New plugs and coil packs refitted

Sprayed the pads with anti squeal spray
5053cf856597b8273df60ec88e70aac0.jpg

Took the discs outside and blew it clean with compressed air. Made sure to get in all the holes and vents to get as much brake dust out of it as possible then I Refitted the discs

Sprayed the contact surfaces of the bracket with anti squeal spray and then fitted it. The slider pins were coated in silicone paste and then installed.

Lastly the pads caliper and clip were all fitted and we were done with the fronts and I called it a day.

The next day I pulled of the rims and tires to fit my square setup with the 265’s all round.

Redid the tyre lettering in red .

And fitted them to the car
36e4b86381055dcdb2ae7ff26b13f33d.jpg

Replaced my wiper blades with a new OEM set.
371ccd6f5cd08a8bb59a8ed65ee6585b.jpg

And got the car down on the ground.
44ece01de948d45ae00a684fae2782e2.jpg

I did start warm up, check oil level then allow to cool down completely and check coolant level. Since everything checked out fine , we connected the laptop and ran diagnostics, had some old errors which were saved on the ecu that needed clearing . Once that was completed , I reset the adaptations and took the car on a test drive . Came back and checked oil, level was perfect. Next morning I checked coolant again and it was perfect so I’m happy with this. I will daily the car to make sure everything is perfect before taking it in for alignment and then hitting the track

Very nice man. everything done correctly. When people use torque wrenches it makes me happy.

Seems to be that good meticulous mechanics use torque wrenches and mechanics that need you to come back 100 times for new problems that didn't exist before you went to them use a socket wrench or spanner with their "I've been doing this for years I know what the torque is cause I can feel it".

This car must be a hell of allot of fun at the track, good luck with the track session, take lots of photos or have them taken :)

Thanks for the kind words gents ,

I rushed and didnt proof read my post , some mistakes here and there . Too late to edit (Bleed a diff , really , coolant was also from bmw , cooling system mix was 60% distilled water 40% coolant , coolant was topped up once the after the initial start, heat and cool cycle m, old diff oil was the castrol LS oil , didn’t get a pic of us filling up the gold laced bmw diff oil, was very easy with a little 12v transfer pump.

But I’m looking forward to revisiting VKC , the last time I was there in 2018 I ran with the 225’s in front and I was still getting use to the coilovers and how to adjust them to get the most out of them, I’m hoping this time around it will be better with the 265s up front to help on those tight corners. Will try and get some pics and vids on the day to share.

Oh awesome.

I Just checked out the event, as well as the track on google maps. Also, I found some vids of it on youtube from last years event. It's atight little track. Very technical and it definitely would be interesting to see if we could get a sub 1 minute on it. Looks to me like a 2nd/ 3rd gear track, barely any shifting required from what I can tell. Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for letting me know.

Did you attend BMW Fanatics track day at REDSTAR last year?

Yeah I’ve done a 52.10 if I recall correctly at VKC the first time . Going to try for 50s this time around .

It is very tight and low speed track like u say 2nd and 3rd gear most of the time . U will hit around 130kmh on the fastest section of it . It’s very technical.

I did a private track day at red star two years ago , red star is very different compared to VKC . one is a bike track and one is a go kart track lol.
