A big hello from IRELAND!

While searching the internet for informaion on lsd options i kept coming across the thread written by gizmo. Best write up there is by far.

Anyway i'm currently building my first bmw. Its an e34 1991 520i. Smaller engine i know but its a start point. I got it standard for very little money and just had to replace the lower track control arm. I then began adding to the car:

Full black leather
16" borbet a's 7.5j and 9j wrapped in 225/45 and 245/45
Angel eye head lights
smoked front indicators
clear side repeaters
M5 tails
Sport bumpers and sides
Lowered 40mm all round
m-tec steering wheel
m-tec gear knob
Saches super sport rear shocks
Fk automotive -30% front shocks
Alpine audio install.

I'm trying hard to find a set of 1991 narrow nose BLACK kidney surrounds. Like this but these are for the wide bonnet 94-96.

Any help on this would be brilliant, maybe someone here has a set and would post to ireland if i send funds plus postage?

I'm currently trying to fit an lsd, and use it to practice a bit of drifty action. It'll be enough to get me started at least.

Its a long way from finished but it'll be worth it to me.

See you on the forum!

Thanks mate, having a good read around the site so not getting round to posting much but i will indeed keep the updates coming as they happen. Not sure what you guys have in relation to NCT (national car test, every 2years, million and one point check to make sure the car is of standard to be allowed on our roads. www.nct.ie for full list of points to pass) My cars going through on monday 6th of july so fingers crossed it'll be on the road that day. i'm ready and waiting but we shall see how it gets on.

Thanks for the comment.

ooOOOH :excited:

Keith !! welcome dude !!

I love the way your E34 is looking ... black with the sport bumpers :excited:

have you got any plans for modifications and such ??

btw, I'm sure there must be some sites online that have those narrow grills, if you don't come right let us know, I'm sure someone on here can get a pair from a junkyard and mail them over ...

we also have an NCT check, just normall roadworthiness check, but its not as hectic as yours... not nearly.. they just check shocks, lights brakes etc.. I think here its only when you re-register the car that you need to do it.. so you can go for YEARS here without having a check..

would love to see some more pics :)

Not sure how much more modification to do. I'm going to shave another 10mm/15mm off the front springs to get the front lip closer to the floor. Fit an lsd OR build my own from a 535i sport lsd i have here. The 535 casing is too large to fit to the 520 and i don't fancy changing whole rear axels and subframes etc. Plus running a 535 lsd with my 520 engine will make it slower than a snail. I've asked gizmo for some help, so we'll prob know a bit more when he logs in again but like i say, i'm not in a huge rush for this mod as i've other things i want to sort first.

I need to finish my audio install. If you pull down the rear arm rest in my car, you'll see a 10" alpine type r sub woofer poking through so it bangs into the car and doesn't just make the number plate rattle. Everything is being done to use as little of my boot space as possible so its all very neat and tidy hidden under false floors etc. Time consuming to say the least as i'm a chef and we're not known to be very mechanically minded although i have done 95% of the work on this car. its my learning curv. I've a huge interest in cars but not alot of knowledge.

I'll be restoring the leather in the bmw as its a bit faded but thankfully no tares or damage as such.

The paint will also be treated to a 3 stage detailing and remove a few layers of paint, thus bringing it back to life and a good shine

After this it'll be to underseal the car, and general maintenence work. I'm toying with the idea of a 525 non vanos engine as it just drops in without need to play with the loom too much.

When i got the car it had 0 modifications, the list i've done covers 100% of the way my car looks now

Full black leather
16" borbet a's 7.5j and 9j wrapped in 225/45 and 245/45
Angel eye head lights
smoked front indicators
clear side repeaters
M5 tails

Lowered 40mm all round

Alpine audio install.

There isn't really alot more i would like to do, bar of course sanding another bonnet back to bare metal and letting it rust. this way i'll have 2 looks for my car.

On the black out grill topic, i can't find any wesites that sell them, only ebay and once they hear their posting to ireland they bump the postage up to more than the item costs itself thus more than doubling the cost! bloody germans :censored:

Maybe theres a supplier over in S.A you could reccomend i try? Or even if someone here can get their hands on a set or has one to sell already we can do business. I know my currency is stronger than yours, so you can always charge a bit more thus not afftecting me, and the seller making a few extra rand (????)

A few more pics for you seems as you asked :thumb:

Dude !! Awesome !! .. Love to see people doing real work to their cars !!
i'm sure gizmo will give u a reply in the week about the diff.. but i'm sure its gonna be best to swap rear subframe and such..

I think Uber Soldat has some narrows, i will give him a call tomorrow and see :) he has more E34's than most people have hair on their heads.. lol.

btw, 525 motor will make a Huge difference !!

will check in l8r, need to sleep, gotta drive 2400km tomorrow :/

Thats not what i wanted to hear (subframe etc).

I'd really appreciate you checking in with uber, black narrows is what i'm after.

Just waiting to find non vanos 525 as the ones that keep coming up are all vanos and playing with looms is time and money consuming.

2400km's? you off to watch a match :excited:

Cheers man, drive safe.

There are hundreds of www references to the tour but the best review is in my link below.

The part i enjoyed (actually more pissed scared) was St. Kevin's *Cemetery*... where members of the Thomas Moore family, the poet, are buried. Yo they tell and do some scary tales/acts here...eish...ooooooooooohhh:mmm:

Wouldn't be something i'd go for. I was actually born and lived my first 15years about 1mile from bram stokers home place. corrstown golf course in st.margarets north co.dublin is now built on top of it. Needless to say we never met :nono:
