Annoying buzzing/vibrations from X1 at low speed

Hello BMW X1 owners,

I have a BMW X1 F48 2015. Well looked after but has done 200,000km. Recently a weird bussing / vibration ( not through the steering wheel ) happens in low gears at slow speed during acceleration and deceleration. Its not affecting performance or handling at all. Also it seems that the idle engine noise is a little louder than usual but that could be my mind playing games. At higher speed than 60km the sound goes away. Sound also seems like its coming from drivers side.

I'm going to get it checked out but presuming it could be engine mounting broken? I've checked the engine mounting i can visually see and it looks perfect.

Anyone got any thoughts as wondered if it could be something simple vs being taken apart to look?

cheers

Sounds like diff mounts. Only thing is the noise at idle also which makes me think it isnt. But all the other symptoms point to diff mounts.

Then it could be the diff mounts. The symptoms hint at that. But taking it in will show you were the issue is even though I think if you go under the car you will see whether the mounts are cracked or not

On a friends E46 328i the car also had a slight vibration when gently accelerating and it turned out to be the gearbox mountings. Two small round mountings on the E46, easily replaced, but i am not sure what kind of mounting is on the X1. I would start there.

Yeah im going to take it in next week. My car is in great condition but has done 200,00km. Nothing on dash and the vibration is not affecting performance at all. Ive battled to find a good quality BMW repair/service business in JHB ( sandton area ) that i can trust.

Diff mounts, diff itself needing a service, or transfer case requiring maintenance.
I would start there.

Also that higher than normal engine idling sound isnt nothing, if you perceive its not normal, get it checked. Could be an ear;y indicatir of something else related, or unrelated, but usually best to make sure.

If you willing to go outside of Sandton there is also Xflow performance but the guys at Xcede are great also. As mentioned here chat to them

Thanks i will. the idling sound seems normal ( i.e timing and revs not changing ) it just seems to be a little louder in lower gears and idling due to this vibration. Will def get checked out and ask to check the diff mounts and diff and transfer case. thanks

They do. There is 2 pars to them. Software tuning and upgrades along with services but mainly on the German cars.
+27 (71) 967-6888 that is the number to Merrick from excede. He’s not actually Excede but Fastworx. The does the mechanical work for Excede
