Havent checked in here for a while.
She is looking very great bud, glad she is starting to move on her own again.

Maybe post a small vid of how she sounds for us guys who loves the sound.:inlove:

Thanks Thunder! Um, I will, as soon as the exhaust is sorted out :fencelook: at the moment she doesn't sound very good at all :nonono: and if you ever wanted to off yourself in a hurry, this is the car to do it with!

I am very pleased with how it is coming along, very happy that the car moves! Just some of those other niggles I need to sort now. As soon as the exhaust is on I will put a vid up of how she is sounding! I am firmly of the opinion that the big straight 6 will purr beautifully!

By the driver left knee is a breaker for the windows. Press and the windows will work... at least mine does.

The switch is currently not connected (the trim piece of the dash under the steering wheel is off at the moment) so I think you may very well be right! Like there is a short in the system because of this.
I will reconnect the switch and see if that works. Thanks!

I feel a bit stupid now....I reconnected the switch and flicked it and wallah,my three windows worked....passenger window doesn't work though, and I am not getting any clicking noise indicating the motor might be working....I hope I don't have to strip that door to get to the motor.

And while I am on the topic of niggles, any recommendations on the exhaust system (as in what I should potentially do with it,replace or try and use as much of the original as I can?) and prices I may be looking at?

Mine is a wildcat. No idea on cost through. The skew twin pipes are a mist though.

Have you ever seen the window move? I recommend a volt meter and make sure it is getting power. Swap the switches to eliminate that. If it is getting power and not working... Clean the grease out the gearbox... Of she still no worky replace.

I'm not hearing anything from the motor, and the guys on Bigcoupe.com were recommending a regrease (on some of the posts I searched for). I see there is a that small plastic cover on the door card that is supposed to give you access to the hex bolt on the motor,so will try that!
The exhaust,I found a guy around the corner from here in Parklands that will do a new rear box plus new mounting rubbers plus install the old exhaust back in for R750. So taking the car there tomorrow.

Car is going tomorrow for the exhaust. I left it too late today and yesterday I was in meetings. Would like to get it sorted before this Western Cape meeting in Melkbos!

So an update. I took the car to an exhaust place in Parklands and was told that unfortunately they couldn't help me with the back silencer because of what the original exhaust, something I am not entirely convinced about as another exhaust place around the corner said it shouldn't be a problem to replace. Anyways, that aside, apparently the car requires a special rubber for the exhaust hanging which I have now gotten from BMW for a price of R212 for the the 3 of them, which I didn't think was too bad at all!
I have also discovered that one of the braided hoses running from the fuel tank to the fuel pump is in fact perished and leaking.....bad news if you're following me and a smoker....:roflol:
On the plus side, the car really drives nicely despite the unbearable sound of NO exhaust! I will need to replace the batteries on the rear of the instrument binnacle, the needles are all over the place unfortunately. But I was really chuffed with how the car drove, other than misfiring because of the lack of exhaust and the cutting out because of no pressure in the exhaust system (I am assuming) and the slight fuel delivery issue.
Other than that,I am very happy! I am going to take the car next week to the other exhaust place and get it done there. If I have to replace the system from the downpipes all the way back, then so be it. The reason I have avoided that is because I want to keep the car as original as possible, hence me salvaging the the exhaust system.

Thanks Luis! She's coming along nicely. I need to do a full clean on the engine bay,I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I have it planned for soon. I need to just cover all the electrical stuff up with plastic first so that I can get stuck in with a bottle of Cleen Green and a toothbrush! But I am very happy with the way she is coming along!

Hehe. Spoken like a true old car owner. I tell people I am so happy with the 6 even though I have to start it with a jumper wire stuck in the diagnostic plug under the bonnet. They look at me like I am mad.

So some success. I have figured out what was causing the issue with the switching off (or lack thereof). Seems one of the relays wasn't working,so I replaced them all with new ones and it seems to have sorted the problem out. Did some test starts and every time the car switched off without hassle. So I am very chuffed about that.
I have decided to take the exhaust as is,off the car,and get a new box put on the back and then I will hang it myself, will have to enroll my mate to help me. But looks like I might just be ready for the 4th of August.
Anybody know where I can get a decent electric aerial from? The car is missing the OEM one and it came with some crappy cheap one. I believe a Hirschman one from BMW will cost about R2000.

Car is now at Cowley's in Montague Gardens for the exhaust,I got the feeling people in Langebaan heard me.
Discovered today I have a nasty oil leak, but it looks like it's coming from the back of the head. Any 635 owners had this? On the forum link below they are mentioning a metal cover on the back of the head that causes leaks because of bad gaskets.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530742

I don't think there is a problem with the head, cos the oil I am seeing is normal colour, there is no mixing in the water with oil.
Any ideas?
