So I was just reading through this thread again and the journey I have been on with this car. I have to admit to falling in love with this car all over again in the time that I've managed to spend with her in the last few days.

Looking back over the last two odd years with the car,I am still amazed at the transformation, and this car's unwillingness, and mine, to give up.

Anyways,I thought, because it was requested so long ago, that I'd put up new pics of the engine, and an old one when I got the car.

You'll notice the valve cover has now been sorted out, satin black finish, which I believe is original to the car.

Herewith the photos:

BEFORE

AFTER

Not a massive difference, but quite big in a lot of ways.

Thanks man. The e24 is 100% original. I'm going to put the original TRX wheels back in though. I just somehow prefer it!

I'm going to do a restore thread as soon as I can get stuck into the e28. I don't get to spend as much time on it because the car is in Cape Town and I'm in jhb unfortunately.

The cover on all e24s M30 was natural aluminium with the only black ones being the M88.
In addition the oil filler cap was aluminium round with no ridge.

Hehehehe....well spotted Peter! The cap on their now is actually off my M6. The original cap is sitting in the boot. When I reassembled the valve cover I couldn't find it initially, so had the spare one lying around so stuck it on there for now.

The valve cover itself seemed to have been painted before and looked grimy. I'll get around to getting it back to original when I get a chance. I prefer the aluminium look myself.

You're too sharp you are.....
