Front Break Service warning on - Brakes have done 13k/km

Hi Guys,

I recently bought an 2006 E91 320D just out of maintenance plan (privately). The front and rear brakes were done under maintenance at 93k and the car is currently on 106k but the service front brake warning has come on. If I look at the pads they still have a lot of break lining (?) on.

Any ideas what this can be? I read that one of the sensors could have come loose? Or maybe BMW did not replace the front sensors?

I at least want to be prepared when I take it in.

Thanks.

If both brake disks and pads are fine, then its possible that the Sensors are faulty.

The sensors should cost you about R100. There is only one brake pad sensor on the front of an E90. you can fit the sensor yourself.

replacing the sensor might remove the warning. if not, take it to someone with the tools that can reset service indicators. They should be able to reset, and you should be all fine...

I think that for R100, its well worth trying before going and spending lots more for a workshop to look at.

Thanks, will take the wheels of tonight and have a look. Strange thing is the "warning" is counting down.

Yip... It will count down.. and the yellow service indicator will turn red...

So the yellow service indicator turned red... :)

I reseated the sensor on both ends and reset the break service indicator by following these steps:

All warnings gone and 60 000km till the next front break service.

I think BMW did not reset the front break service indicator when the breaks were replaced so the counter continued counting down.
