so upon thinking about the car
i ordered this
stett.jpg

this is the new stett chargepipe for 2009+ cars , it os a one piece design from the cooler to the throttle.
will be installing later , this is the first step in the aid of cooling the charge
as i will install the water meth kit next week , its a kit i have modifed for my purposes , the pump and injector cant be bought off the shelf.

have decided that i wont be using a bigger intercooler , i have various reasons , but ulitmately the pressure drop will be stumbling block as with the flash tune you cant up the boost as with a piggy back.
unless you reflash the ecu.

i am confident i can lower the IAT to within a degree of so of a car which has
water injection and upgraded cooler.

STETT FTMFL
been 2 days of fitting and the pipe has popped off 4 times !
tried everything and still getting boost leaks.
the pipes provided were short bu 20mm!!!!
had to buy a new silicone end.

ended up taking off the pipe and putting stock one back!!!
be wary of stett products for the 2010 cars .(different design)

alsomy friend wanted to fit the stett cooler to his 135i
MY GOD stett's idea of bolt on is ridiculous!!!
u need to cut half the cowling to pieces !!
i would do that to my car !!!
its a terrible un-user friendly range of products!!!

Thats awful news...:argh:

Anile, I had the same issue but resolved it easily in this way. The thing is you need the STETT type of chargepipe to add the additional mods you are contemplating:

Here is my explanation:

In the first picture is the STETT pipe with the connector on the right that fits into the throtle-body. Some guys add a throttle-body spacer to give you more length but this is not necessary. In the middle you can see the lovely STETT DVs and on the other side of the STETT pipe there is no connector. Normally if you add this connector it connects straight into the Intercooler piping on the extreme left at the bottom. I hope you are still following. So I then added this Meth/nitrous elbow connector (pic on the right). You can get it from AR or from STETT. This connector gives you more than enough length and space to work with. Infact so much length that you could cut away some of the silicone piping...if you want to, but this is not necessary. This now means I have a bung at the side of the throttle-body for meth or nitrous or both or a dual meth setup and a bung in the elbow on the side of the Intercooler for either meth or nitrous. Some guys want the meth to flow further away from the throttle body entry orthers want it to inject straight into the throttle-body without obstruction...its up to you which way you want to play. The AR elbow also have a two bung option if you want to run a dual meth set up.

Here are two pictures of the meth connected in the Elbow side and you can see how I cut some of the silicone piping away there was so much length. I almost gaurantee you if you follow this instruction the piping cannot and will not blow off...if well done.

Here is a pic of the Nitrous connection on the throttle-body side of the Stett pipe. This set up works brilliantly for me no matter what boost level I dial in. Also see how tight I torqued the clamped here.

Finally, please call me if you just want to chat or get some quick install advise as you proceed going forward. I know its frustrating if these components dont fit perfectly as advertised by the manufacturers...but you have fanatics to help when it gets too dark.

Thanks twins ! Am taking strain with this !
Will Investigate your findings .
Put the stock pipe back and the car doesn't feel right .
Very laggy and sounds a bit rough sort of like an induction roar .
Hope it's not leaking somewhere else due to all the pushing and pulling
Also broke the small clip of the map sensor but seems to still fit ok

That little sensor is a pain. I use a usb to unplug it. You may have to disconnect the battery and get her to reset everything again. Also check the stock DV points. You must hear them click into place. I broke my sensor the first time also and held it together with a piece of plastic tie. But eventually bought a new one.

Seems to be a common problem, also broke the clip on the sensor when I removed my CP. How do you use a usb to unplug it, "usb" in like computer usb connector LOL ??

Yes, a usb cable. I also use the Usb on my bmw key. It slides in between the clip without much effort and you pull the sensor out in the same motion.
