Fanatic Help needed - Road Trip to South Coast

Hi Guys,

So I've been in contact with Osiris from the forum regarding his 330d breakdown. And volunteered to go tow him out of trouble.

http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=43471

Firstly I need to make sure that towing the auto in N isn't going to wreck it beyond the state where we can not tow anymore. And secondly does anyone need a ride down to the South coast?

I'll probably end up staying the night and then drive up the next morning - Friday the 5th.

I plan on leaving here at 06:30am.

Disconnect the propshaft and don't use a rope. Sleepstang.. Illegal to use a rope on the hiway, I think.

also agree with taking out the prop shaft,it has to come out any way

unless your going down with a trailer andy, then it would be better on your car towing a trailer

Rope? I found that as soon as I bought the "sleepstang" I've been towing cars way more than I thought.

Towed my moms opel corsa, a friends ford ranger and now another BMW. It works like a charm. Oh yes and the Z4M towed the 330d :fencelook:

If you need a workshop on the South Coast, my dad can help - he has a place in Port Shepstone

I wish, it isn't a mechanical workshop, but if you need a safe place to store / work on the car, with all the tools that you need, then my dad's place will probably be the best place

Thanks for the comments guys. Nick wants the car in Gizmo's hands. And I totally agree. He will do a top notch 6spd manual conversion and this way the car is closer to home.

Also they need to get home so they can return to work. So this is really the only solution. The car has to come up this weekend.
