F30 issues and service

Question though...i keep getting a warning upon startup of battery being drained and that electical systems was switched off. What can this be? I cant think of anything that drains my battery while car is dead and locked

My Park Assist seems to be up to shit today, it's moving the car in all odd directions :roflol:

Some really, really weird issues used to crop up with it and it went to the dealers many times for stupid little faults like these. Actually glad I'm rid of it to be honest

Guess I am to used to cheap cars to have small stuff like this frustrate me so much. I am also living in the middle of nowhere, so no quick BMW fix for me, it will only be seeing Stealers for services. Some small niggles but I am happy.

Was hoping the battery discharge warning will be a simple fix though

I'm trying to remember the details but I think the warnings went away after a while. BMW will replace the battery, only after they tested it overnight though.

Buy why the blue smoke on first startup in the morning? This i a petrol model.

I suspect you might have symptoms of turbo starting to leak. They will have to remove the plumbing from the turbo and check for sings of oil. I know my dealer has had a few 320i F30 with turbo starting to fail (smoke on start up). It is also not a quick process because BMW SA wants foto's to be sent of the plumbing if they do find oil in your intake system and they will also check your computer for any illeagal chipping and so on. I Suggest you take it to the dealer and have them check it out.

I know they designed the F30 with start stop function but in my opinion its not good thing for the turbo if you have a heavy foot. Hence the reason I had mine reprogrammed by BMW to stay off when I switch it off. I only use the Start stop function in heavy traffic.

Keep us posted on what their findings are. I recon your car will be with them 3days for them to check it out and if they have to replace turbo

Car went in Monday. Tuesday morning on startup at dealer very little smoke. They claimed it was normal. I rejected it. This morning they started car up and there was the smoke! Just called me now to say they gave been instructed to remove the exhaust. Perhaps to check if there are traces of oil...probably from turbo...

Petrol model and on cold starts in the morning there is cloud of white smoke that comes out. this does not happen everyday though. went to clear water bmw this week and the service advisor informed me that he has seen alot of this as well and in majority of the cases, the turbo has a leak. need to book mine in :thumbdo:

Guys take my advise and ask the dealer to code your Start Stop to remember your last selection. Don't take No for an awnser because it can be done. They have done mine and my Nephews F30 also with no hassels.

Petrol engines run hotter than diesel and driving on the highway and taking the off ramp and stopping at robot and then the engine switches off its not good I reckon. You can use that Start Stop function in slow moving traffic if you like

Besides the turbo being safe I don't think it's good for the engine. There was a thread on the overseas forum about it being in the booklet that it may reduce engine life.

Well this isn't my first F30 and touch wood I have not had any issues.....

Ja like gearbox oil is lifetime and long service intervals are good :YesNo:
All I know it will make a difference. Why do you think when you select sport mode the car does not switch off. Starter and battery will last longer. But its your preference.

I think that Trusted source is not so trusted. How does the oil circulate I wonder. Just my opinion

I had a similar knocking noise and forsdicks changed the diff on my e46 320i steptronic on two occasions. Then they tried changing a bush which solved the problem. Forsdicks is a good dealership all in all. They even replaced the engine after mp expired because oil tests were done just before no expired. They could have moaned but actually got it done
