F30 328i vs F30 320d

And then you will read threads where the f30 320i leaves the f30 320d by 2 car lengths etc... Its too close to call I think the fairest way to separate the 320i and the 320d is the consumption.

At one point.BMW were adamant. No forced induction. No diesel. No fwd.

How things have changed

BMW have been producing diesel motors since the early 1980s

Ya, agreed.

But dvst8 went a bit further.:

If its consumption you after buy a diesel or 1.4l small hatch.

If its a premium performance brand, buy a petrol bmw.

Blah

How is the petrol a premium performance car and the diesel not? If the get from A to B in the same time ?

And, for the 330d:

Acceleration 0-100 Final 5.6
Top Speed Final 250
Power Output 190kw@4000
Torque 560nm@2000

Not up to the 335i, as can be expected, as it is a cheaper car. But how is this not premium performance? :dunno:

Probably the best middleground I can find between heart and head is a 330d. Astonishing torque, and the Kw makes for good reading too.

I've owned 3 diesels
1 Petrol Turbo (and a V8)
They're certainly different - however, be thankful that you don't have to completely abandon the pursuit of performance in your quest for economy.
BMW FTW!

Xeqtr, stop it :roflol: we gonna have punch up's soon.
Nah nice topics though !

Two different markets they aimed at I feel, hence the differences in thoughts. But petrol rules though

I had a 2007 1.4 polo and would get 600kms a tank. My 320d I get north of 900kms a tank.

A thought, not apples and apples yeah ? Engine size, NA vs Aspirated, tank size etc Maybe a math genius could calculate the Polo as still running cheaper

Dvst8 said if you're after economy buy a diesel or 1.4 hatchback. I was referring to that by the way. So no need for your snarky comment since you clearly haven't been following this thread. My 320d produced better litre/100km than my polo. Sorry but since when was running cost a topic in this thread and it doesn't take any sort of genius to see that so yeah if you can't see that then I'm sorry for you.

Both these cars are still on plan and even off plan what makes you think the diesel is considerably more expensive to maintain? Both are turbo charged? Diesel injectors, shouldn't be a problem if the car is cared for. And more regular oil services are peanuts. That being said. I would also take the 328i over the 320d but I would take the 330d over the 328i.
