Obligatory "When is the remap booked for?" post ๐Ÿ˜

Haha, no remap planned as yet. Very happy with the car as is.

Seems to have settled on around 5.8/5.9L/100km for normal daily driving duties after the downpipe was done. So the 0.2 drop in consumption was accurate.

No updates here, other than the car motoring along very happily. The car recently hit the 75k km mark, so as with the E36, I've decided the E90 will get an oil change every 6 months/5000km. Just for my own peace of mind. Would rather just have more frequent oil changes, especially on a diesel.

So I'll do the basic oil change service halfway through each year, and it'll go to BMW/independent at the end of each year so it can get its stamps in the book and get a full inspection to check for anything else that may need to be done. Still haven't decided on BMW/independent.

Got in touch with the Motul guys and they sent through some BMW LL04-specific 5w30:

Next service is due in December, so should hit 80k km by then.

Ciro from Cars.co.za invited me to one of his events a few weeks ago, and with the E36 getting some updates, I just went through with the E90 and did some chilled parade laps for fun. My mate left his GT4 at home too and brought his 420d ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Happy days.

I'm definitely still regretting not jumping at this car when it popped up on Facebook marketplace

That said, glad it went to a good home!

I'm also still torn on wheels. When I see these, they're may favorite, and then I see my style 285s, and I'm like "that's the one!". Sidenote: Would be keen to try either the 157 or 188s on a sedan ๐Ÿค”

Back to the topic/car at hand, what are your feelings on the down pipe thus far? My main concern is still possible fumes.

And how are you finding the gearbox now, post service?

I've been using sport mode more and more in town, for the crisper shifting and better pull off. The 2nd gear pull off with the slipping clutch feeling is just too annoying. To avoid the annoyance of it hanging onto gears too long, i.e. slowly driving down a busy city street at 40kph at 3000 revs, I pop it back to normal so it upshifts 2 gears... XHP incoming ๐Ÿ˜Š

I like these, but I think your 285's look better tbh. I wouldn't mind a set of 193M's, or 270M's. Style 304 would be first prize.

Downpipe has been great, the slight turbo whistle is fun with the windows down, otherwise you can't tell at all that it has been done which I like.

Fumes are extremely minor on cold start, but that's also undercover. Not enough to really annoy me. Don't notice any fumes when parked in an open area.

I didn't actually do the gearbox service yet after some people's comments on doing it on a lower mileage car. So I'll probably do it at the end of the year after the 80k km service. Gearbox is pretty damn smooth, I do wish it would change gear as soon as it could when cruising though (1500rpm vs 1900/2000rpm). Would love to hear your feedback on XHP once done.
