F10 M5 exhaust review - Akra content

So I've had my M5 since August last year and the biggest disappointment was the exhaust note or lack their of.
It really was an issue and in December last year, I had a custom kit made for me in stainless based on the Akrapovic design. It was copied inch by inch.

End result less than pleasing - droned from 2000rpm to 3500 rpm and absolutely no sounds under wot.
Really disappointed, spent R25k.

After driving my mate's M5 with the real Akrapovic it was a night and day difference.

So today I fitted a full titanium Akrapovic exhaust to the M5 with Carbon tips.
Cost more than a pretty penny but the sound is aural delight.
In my book well worth the cash.

Akrapovic 10/10 in my book.

Sound clips to follow.

I'm guessing its the Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust. Do you think if they had copied the Akra System in Titanium instead of stainless, would it have made a diff?

But then again, couldn't be so much about the size and material of the boxes used but what's inside them that counts I guess?

Keen to hear the sound!

Two things -
I doubt a stainless system would yield the same results
The boxes were the same design as the Akrapovic - two in two out, but I'm sure their internal make up would be different.

I simply can't explain the difference.
Will go pro it tonight.

Last price on the M Performance exhaust was R107K last month (pretty sure that was fitted). Identical to Akra. Race! recently quoted me R104K for Akra Evolution System and 23K for the carbon tips. Not nearly R150K

I am hoping ACS is going to be nice. According to the UK distributors it sounds better than the Akra (subjective) and obviously nowhere close to the weight savings (though on a 2 ton car...) It is less than half the price (but not a full system)

Also eagerly awaiting pics and clip!

Actually I'm wrong... its over 150k now for akra. Makes the M performance a bargain relatively (that's still 110k). Thanks exchange rate!

Is that because M performance is only a muffler system unlike the Akra.

This is true, the M Perf exhaust is an Axle Back, whereas the Akra Evo is a Cat Back system.

But IIRC, the M Perf exhaust is also made by Akrapovic? I've seen a box that says BMW M Performance by Akrapovic... I could be wrong though LOL
