Correct, my previous statement was incorrect about it being axle back, it is in fact a Cat Back.
However, Akra does make the M Perf exhaust so it is good value for money I guess if you get it from BMW.

Best is to buy from BMW by the looks of it. Its the same exhaust with different tips. Been documented conclusively. In fact you could probably buy the M performance exhaust. Put on the Akra tips and save 25K...

I don't seem to understand the dilemma re tips. Buy from BMW with 3 year warranty. You can opt for plain M embossed or m embossed, sleeved with a CF piece.

Actually I'm wrong... its over 150k now for akra. Makes the M performance a bargain relatively (that's still 110k). Thanks exchange rate!

Is that because M performance is only a muffler system unlike the Akra.

This is true, the M Perf exhaust is an Axle Back, whereas the Akra Evo is a Cat Back system.

But IIRC, the M Perf exhaust is also made by Akrapovic? I've seen a box that says BMW M Performance by Akrapovic... I could be wrong though LOL

M performance is muffler system only on the e92... Not too sure about Fx

Am just loving every minute of it!
Akra made a little more power 7wkw to be exact.

At the last time out on the dyno she made 510wkw and 1045nm.

Twin turbo + Akra = Very happy indeed

Have Akra DP's on my M3 with JB4 and NF ultra what a beast. With flaps open the stock exhaust is plenty loud enough for me.

Drove an M4 with M performance exhaust at Zwartkops track day. The car is epic, especially with Carbon brakes on the track.

At the last time out on the dyno she made 510wkw and 1045nm.

I was quoted R107k yesterday by BMW for a full M5 Akra system. Will need to check if I am missing something because that is well below the R150k numbers mentioned in this thread.

My main question/reservation is how much different does it sound from inside your car if you don't mind me asking? The Akra M5 video clips I have managed to find on Youtube sound magnificent from the outside.

My main question/reservation is how much different does it sound from inside your car if you don't mind me asking? The Akra M5 video clips I have managed to find on Youtube sound magnificent from the outside.

From what I've understood, this is how you can purchase the exhaust:

If the exhaust is done by BMW, its the M Performance Exhaust (which is actually the Akra Evo system) with machined chrome ///M tips for around 110k and with the carbon ///M tips its closer to 125k.

Now, if you buy the exhaust aftermarket from say RACE! SA, they will give you the same Akra Evo system but with Akrapovic Carbon tips setting you back 150k... which is where the 150k comes from.

Llew can confirm as hes done more research on this :thumbs: but from what you've mentioned, I don't think anything is missing and you should definitely go for it!

107k is correct including either titanium or carbon tips. I got an updated offer of Akra for 132k. Go for the M Performance

With Active sound still enabled the noise inside the vehicle is very muted.
Sounds great outside!
