Yup, truth be told I wouldn't mind an e46 or E36 M in my life either. In fact, before starting this whole saga I was actually looking to get an E46. I just didn't have the cash flow to buy one outright at the moment.

That pic came up when I googled "Over the top M3"

The car I'm working on now will remain stock'ish so as to retain some form of resale value.

Ja Terry, when you finally have something that sits on the road like this we all become boy racers. Truth be told, the only thing I ever raced were gocarts on Kyalami and I always came last.

One of the things I think I must do is to go for the BMW advanced driving course. If I look at the amount of wrecked M3's I've come across lately it tells me that people overestimate their abilities and the last thing I want is to be one of those guys.

Insurance can replace the car, but it will never replace the amount of time , love and effort I have put into this car.

Here's a short video I took this morning. I simply stuck the camcorder to the back of the boot with a suction adapter. I wanted you all to hear how wow the OEM muffler mod is. It's not a great camera I'm using as it's got too much AGC and you also battle to hear the really low bass noises that this box makes. But it does give you an idea why you'd want to redline this car as it's exhilarating!!!

Oh yes, please don't mind the editing. It's terrible :)

I'll have to chat to my brother about it. It's a fiberglass type tape with a foil emulsion. He then wrapped the holes and used Stainless Steel clamps to keep it all together. I chose this approach as it's still reversible should it have sounded kak. Mybrother is a master with this stuff, especially Stainless Steel as his shop does custom brushed SS work for Iveco.

I see you de-catted your car. What improvements did you have going this route? Outside of software of course.

The throttle response is better, consupmtion is better, power increased and exhaust note sounds way better. Only downside is that the straight pipe they fitted is little bit smaller so around 4000rpm it has a tinny sound when cold. But will have that fixed. There are just huge improvements on doing decat.

I would live to do the muffler mod on my car as well.

As far as de-catting is concerned I wouldn't change the pipes. I'll only use a long piece of metal and chip the cat material out. That way, when looking under the car, it's not a mix and match of different pipes. It's also for this reason I asked my brother to open the muffler from the top, not the bottom.

I'll square him and see how much he would charge to do the mod for you. Welding together a muffler isn't the same as welding a pipe. He even went and bought special thin disks to do the cuts as that would waste less material for when welding it all together. Personally, I wouldn't let anyone else do welding work on my car but him. Then again, I'm biased I guess :)

Car sounds wicked G, that engine changes petrol to an awesome noise...

Thank Marv, to be honest the camera doesn't capture the lower registers audio wise. There's that deep throaty rumble that isn't being recorded and playing it back on my iPad sounds tinny compared to playing it back on my PC that has a decent speaker package.

Anyway, I'm rambling. The car sounds gorgeous to me. I was thinking of bringing in a Megan muffler for the car but after these results I'm honestly not inclined to. I'm even hesitant de-catting the car for in case it affects the sound:rollsmile:

I find myself listening to the sound clip over and over. Sounds really great.
