E90 Shock Mounts

Hi All

I have a 2007 e90 323i
I am having a serious problem with BMW regarding shock mounts.
Firstly how many of you guys had have your shock mounts repaired due to pothole damage.
I repaired mine in Feb 2011 and again I go to BMW now and they have the same problem in the exact same spot.
Also the say my motoplan is frozen till I fix the damage.
I have been to the Panel beaters and they say it is common with bmw.

I alternate between my runx and bmw during the week and i have never had issues with toyota.I am not a bad driver and if i did hit a major pothole i would not be posting here.

It seems that bmw's are very senstitive to south african roads. How many of you have this problem. Also is there anything I can do....
Personally I feel that the original damage earlier this year was not fixed properly.. But then I immediately been to BMW after for an alignment and they did not have a problem. Also now there is'nt any damage on the tyre but they claim the rim is buckled and shock mounts pushed up.

Is there a BMW centre where they can test my car independently and put it through a suspension test to see if this will continue to happen.

Can any one out have any input or suggestion?

They are based in JHB next to troyville Mosque,they know him very well i"m not sure if they a on the directory.

Hi mate, I had a problem with my 330d - pot holes also, they repaired everything but it took for ever, you must have it done through your insurance at a recognised BMW dealer or you motorplan will not be reinstated.
They will probaly have to fix the top mounts also (they dome a bit), its not that they are sensitive but rather the fact that the ride + runflats are so dam hard everything else breaks first.
Good luck man - oh and avoid Sandton BMW panel shop they are useless.

Your toyota will have soft suspension and higher profile tires hence no probs U might get buckles wheels though, these repair guys all drive Bakkies so they dont care - thats why they have such high mounts where they have laid new surface (the bloody idiots).

The problem on the e90 are the Runflats which are super hard, one of my wheels got a bit buckled from a pothole luckily the shock mounts are still ok.

Only suggestion I have which helps quite a bit is to buy some polarized sunglasses which because reduce glare help you spot the potholes from further away plus also helps in judging how deep they are.

Yep, good set of sunglasses are a must, and even in the rain they help a lot with visibility! Luckily I have been able to steer clear of potholes! Even manhole covers (some are slightly recessed) and minor bumps in the road are avoided as much as possible.

And mine has normal non-sportpack suspension, and 17" wheels with RFT's - so firm ride but still decently comfy, feel very sorry for the sportpack drivers with 18" wheels and RFT's!!! :nonono:

i know the e46 had reinforcement plates that fitted inside the towers for bad roads... maybe you should look into some for the e90...

Did you manage to get any resolve to this matter. I'm having the same issues now with my shock mounts and MP being frozen.
How big a job is it and what is the cost involved to repair this?
Which BMW approved repair centre in Jhb have you taken your car to?
