Epic Save.

This car is just so damn right my word. Great to see it in an enthusiasts hands getting the love and attention it so deserves.
Seems like some good wings were enjoyed in that car judging by that wheel :skit:

@UpNcOmiNg! yeah seriously don't want to think about what was on that wheel :fencelook:

I'm sure @Jeremy.D has some valuable ideas...

Glad your bearings are sorted out. No need to convince me what fcuked bearings look like :fencelook:

Keen to see the car soon and tnx for the advice on the steering wheel DIY; I've yet to give it a try

So this past week, the car went into Supertech BMW for the blower motor and positive terminal recalls. Had a brake fluid flush done while it was there... Now the brakes feel as they should...

Also had some time to perform a quick interior clean and installed some 35% anti smash and grab tint :smilebounce:

So while trying to diagnose a lag in throttle response, I decided to remove the intake plenum and have a look around.

Safe to say, it was probably never off the car prior to this weekend :fencelook:

On closer inspection of the ITBS, it was quite clear that some cleaning would be required, a surprising amount of carbon build up..

Weapon of choice for the cleaning was CRC Throttle body & Intake cleaner, this worked quite well, but not nearly as effective as the LM intake cleaner...

After some elbow grease..

Then the area received a (really) quick wipe down.

It seems like the carbon build up definitely played a role in the throttle response issues, driving to work this morning felt MUCH better with almost no lag at all. I will be ordering the rebuild kit for the TBAs soon so I'll have another chance at giving the area a deeper clean.

Thanks for looking . :chef:

Hi All,

So one thing that has really bugged me about the car was the condition of the wheels. They had definitely seen a cheapie refurb at some point and really brought the general appearance of the car down.

After considering a few options, I decided to have them redone properly at wheel collision.

Condition before:

And after:

Couldn't bring myself to fit the old worn tires to the "new" rims, so some Michelin super sports were fitted, and new M decals to finish it off..

After this, I decided to give the interior carpets and mats a deep clean to get rid of years of dirt...

During..

Loving the progress, those wheels looks absolutely stunning. I know wheel collision costs an arm and a leg, but it shows.
