So as much as I love my 330i, I am playing with the idea of looking into going over to the dark side...
Had a look at a 330d M-Sport with a manual gearbox and it seemed fine and drove nicely, but the clutch felt a bit rough on the pedal movement as if it was snagging against a carpet, but that wasn't the case - so something with the mechanism itself. Also throttle feel is a lot more direct compared to my 330i Exclusive, so the first number of pull-offs and up changes I found the clutch was slipping very easily. No shuddering at all though. The 330i needs the throttle to be fed in fairly liberally during clutch biting point and beyond, maybe the 330d needs throttle input only once clutch has started to bite - makes sense with the character of diesel torque, my diesel bakkie is the same.
Other issue which worries me a bit more since it is engine based, when starting and stopping the engine there is a quick chirp noise, have no idea what that could be or if it is anything to worry about.
The car is a 2006 model with 92k km on the clock and with two owners already.
Condition cosmetically is not too bad, some typical soft touch plastics and the M-Sport steering wheel is also affected of course. Loads of stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper, and the odd minor ding here and there. The left rear door mechanism is a bit noisy. The right rear door beading is a bit dented as if something was dropped or rested on it. Wheels are slightly curb-rashed and there was a nasty vibration, so either buckled on not properly balanced - has new non-RFT tyres all round.
No sunroof, no Xenons, no rain sensor and no I-Drive. Some tools are missing as well as the first aid kit. Sunroof and Xenons is something I would like of course.
