E90 330 LCI (180kw) - Thoughts?

So my brother has his eye on one of these.

It's a 2010 model, 97000kms, Auto, MSport.

Doing some checking, this appears to be the updated 180kw / 520Nm motor.

Previously he had an E46 330D, and really enjoyed that car.

Anything specific to consider / look out for on this model?

Thoughts and comments appreciated.

Thanks

It's by far the best car I have owned, power to economy ratio is great.
I have spoken to a few of the mechs at BMW (did the advanced driving course with two of them in the car so picked their brains a bit) they both couldn't really say any major issues that the see constantly however both said they have seen a few hydro locked motors so stay away from deep puddles.

Find one that's been looked after and well serviced and you can't go wrong, best of luck to your Boet.

Tell him to doooo iiittttt
LCI 330d is an all round winner when it comes to power and fuel economy. :coolShake: I'm currently on 186k km and still smiling

I would only suggest that he gets the gearbox serviced at ZF considering the mileage is almost 100k

Jip I spoke to Karsh in Dec - ran into him at the big red bank which is keeping us very busy these days.

He should be going to see it tomorrow, hopefully bodywork is all in good condition, then I suspect the deal may be done and dusted :tiptoe:

If all is well service wise, then there is no reason not to go for it. I agree with Ray regarding the ZF service on the gearbox.

So my boet went to see, and test drive the car this morning.

All went well, so he agreed in principle to purchase the car.

The front bumper has some scratches, so they will respray that, and some curb rash on 2 of the rims, which they also said they will sort out.

My boet says what sealed the deal for him was when he was browsing through the Motorplan - he saw the previous owner's name, which he recognised.

Turns out he used to gym with the guy, and he is also a friend of our cousin, and they have been out for the odd family luncheon or two .

He called the guy up, who reckons the car has been excellent, and the only reason he is changing is because he wants a car which still has motorplan. No accidents or major repairs on the car either.

Will post some pics soon.
