I dig the LCI 3 series, but taking away that gear shifter is like taking away ones manhood ??? Its like a tiny shrimp you need to look for to get the car in drive or reverse!!! Nah man less is not more in this case

Very true dude.... although tt is still tons better than teh crap they put into the W205 C-class where it is behind the steering wheel...I rather have the toggle switch than that weird thing toothpick stick out the corner that you cannot find ha ha ha!

My main gripe is the integration of the climate controls into the screen. It's not BMW only but all manufacturers doing this and it's so sad really. Not much we can be do about it but it makes changing cars ad difficult process because now you have to learn each car you change into in the case of rental etc.

I actually prefer the Mercs indicator like gearshift to the toggle switch bud.

The toggle is horrible having experienced it on a Jag and the Havals.

I watched a YouTube vid (cant recall the link) where the guy mentioned that on his current M340i, he just has to press one button to get his heated seats on, whereas on the LCI (with the heated seats feature now integrated into the large screen), he has to press 4 buttons.
A few other gripes as well regarding inefficiency.
You tend to lose concentration on driving by fiddling around the menus to get to a particular setting / feature.

Fully agree with my pre lci G20 I find myself fiddling around sometimes, yes it does get very distracting I can only imagine trying to do everything on the touch screen on these new cars, you could issue voice commands as well, sometimes I do this to open and close windows.

You might find the Alpina D3 S facelift interesting. It retains the full gear lever.

It was the AutoTopNL preview of the LCi 3 series.

An LCI already?

Dont know if its just me , but Here on our roads in Durban , I hardly see that many G20 3 series cars , There seem to be more X model cars on our roads these days then this .
There are still a ton of F30`s though .

You can swop the LCI Gear console for the Pre LCI gear console. They are interchangeable. I saw a few guys abroad have already made the switch back to the gearlever.

Agree, even in JHB.
The X3 offers more value (in terms of space and practicality and extra ride height) over the 3 series. The quality of our roads does not help 3 series sales either.
Also, with the new 3 series cracking over R1bar for a slightly upspecced 320i/d, the value for money argument is a tough sell. Sure, for real driving dynamics, the 3 series blows away the X3, but for the average 320i/d buyer, the move to X3 makes more sense.

Low mileage F30 offer excellent value for money though...

Brand new 320d for over R1m:
