Howzit Gents,

so long story short. I got a 2006 320i Pre-LCI Automatic the other day and I've read around the forum that if you drive economically you'll get around 8-9L/100KM, especially if you make sure to change the gears between 3500-4000rpms.

Now the best I've managed to do was 10.2L/100KM and its currently sitting at 11.3L/100KM. Is this the norm on this vehicle ?

If not, would it be advised to maybe get a better air filter, and decat the exhaust ?....seeing as the car has got 136000km on the clock.

Could anyone advise a proper place to go to to get the exhaust/Cats checked out in and around Honeydew side ?

Luckily not Valve-steam seal issues :)

Thanx

Afternoon,

There is a few things that you need to take in consideration when trying to do fuel economy comparison.

Your location, road you travel, amount of traffic you experience and the amount of stop and go you do as well as the individual itself and there is a few more but it depends on all of these.

I see that your maximum torque is around 3200 - 3700 RPM so that makes sense why you would want to change gears there but how much traffic/city driving and how much highway driving do you do? Do you floor it to speed limit or do you gradually accelerate to this speed

And my Pre-LCi E90 330i manual is sitting at 11.9L / 100km at the moment with 80% city traffic and 20% highway, 40 minute drive both ways.

ok kwl man, that is true yes.... uhm well I'd say also about 80-90% City Traffic and 10% Highway. and its usually a gradual acceleration...still getting used to the little beast :p (coming from a Getz)

Is there a place you could advise on me getting a better air filter/ maybe a exhaust mod for a better noise :) ?

If the car is still new to you then it will most probably come down on fuel consumption once you got use to it.

I am also looking for that mod as my straight 6 sounds softer then a Getz and only start clearing the throat at around 6000rpm. But yes, google on this forum exhaust and there is a few post where we discussed this.

But also google E90 catless or E90 muffler delete, there are awesome threads on this also.

Haha yeah, it does only starting making a lovely sound after 6k rpms :p

Will defintely search the forums and see whats what.....only problem i'm hoping to avoid is those sensors on the exhaust, and I don't exactly know how many cats are on that exhaust.
