E90 320D ADVICE NEEDED

Hi guys,

So I recently bought a 2005 e90 320d (178 000km), and need advice on certain faults and upgrades, would really appreciate input.

My one angel eye does not come on, I'm not sure if it's the bulb or the connection - is it even possible for one to burn out before the other?

I used to have an M-sport, and now I have the regular suspension. I would like to change over to some decent coil-overs, however I am unsure if it will interfere with DTC and other electronics/sensors. I also need recommendation on what brand to get (budget does not cater for H&R). Or should I rather go with new shocks and springs?

I previously had a K&N filter but I recently read that they don't have filtration as fine as the OEM paper filters - hence more air intake - please advise if this is true as I am concerned about dirt going into the intake.

Please advise on the removal of swirlflaps and where I can get it done in Jhb, as well as removal of DPF and fitment of a downpipe.

Hope I get some good feedback.

Hey bud! congrats on the new ride... you've got about 4 threads worth of stuff you're wondering about... and they'll all been well covered on the forum. search a bit and add your specific questions to the related threads.

on the Xenons.. try swapping the working bulb to the 1 that's out. if it doesn't work, then it's the ballast. Yes, 1 can die before the other.

Hi bud.

doing the filter on a diesel doesn't really help with performance. i have done some testing in the past where it actually makes less power with an aftermarket air filter. and to be honest i think the stock air filter is better at keeping crap out of your turbo and motor.

The only reliance on why I'm considering getting a K&N - wouldn't manufacturers void the warranty if it wasn't safe? Because K&N is usable without affecting this so I'd think that manufacturer's would have thrown their toys out the cot by now?

The angel eye bulb is gone out just replace

Where can I get these, and it looks pretty difficult to get to the bulbs from the wheel arch, is that the only way?

I have a K&N Filter in my 320d and I can concur. It makes zero difference to sound and or performance.

I bought it primarily due to the fact that its washable. Its debatable whether its as good as a OEM filter. I reduce service intervals on the filter and keep it clean to give me peace of mind.

You have to go through the wheel arch.

Rather look at replacing the bulb with brighter LED bulbs, could end up being cheaper than OEM.

Regarding the angel eyes. It's tough finding aftermarket ones, all of the ones I've been able to find need to be brought in from overseas. I was able to install normal LED globes by modifying the OEM holders a bit. Cost me 50 bucks. But I do get the dash errors all the time now. Regarding the downpipe. I installed mine at Powerflow Randburg, fantastic service. They should be able to do the DPF as well. From research it seems that aftermarket air filters don't do a thing, some claim it can even make your turbo overspool. Congrats and good luck

Hi Guys, i have tried the LED angel eye bulbs and they really dont last. when one of them fuses then you forced to buy another pair. i have found a way to replace the bulb only and not the entire fitting. been 3 years and going good.
