At that price buy it
BUT...
**I could be wrong but there are no aftermarket replacements for EDC dampers,so dealer only...$$$. Or fit coilovers that feature an EDC delete module (eg KW Street Comfort), still pricey but will come in alot cheaper than replacing the 4 corners with dealer units.
**Some overseas forums speak about cases of broken rear springs. Eibach, B&G, and H&R have cost efficient replacements though.
**Dyanamic Drive units (if fitted) can fail, also costly replacement (can ask HugoZA on the forum)
**Healthy battery is a MUST HAVE, weak/inconsistent voltage is the cause of many a ghost error. By extention you also want a healthy alternator, but could probably get a decent priced 2nd one at MD House.
**Car is heavy so suspension wear is a concern but there should plenty of non-dealer options available. The bigger issue is diagnosing suspension issues as E65s had BMW's most sophisticated setup at that time.
**Health of the transmission as that diesel pushes out high torque.A ZF rebuild can run as high as R30k......
I've only highlighted the items that could cause you not to be able to drive the car at all. Plenty other possible issues coming from the numerous gizmos but at least car will be (should be?) driveable. Also haven't spoken about the diesel motor as you are familiar with it from your E39.
Oh there's also the issue of wet carpets/footwells caused by clogged drainage in the sunroof, the enginebay microfilter compartment (leaves, debris etc), and worn door membranes. You don't want water getting to the millions of modules within the car, so just check for wetness. Might not show though until car sits in the rain for a bit.
Very solid cars though but hide there wear and tear well, so an okay to bad one would've had to be quite seriously neglected...in that case avoid. Oh yes and holler at Leonard
Good luck!!
Good luck
