E46 Xenon Replacement - Advice needed

Good evening gents

My E46 has blown it's second xenon ~ No more headlights..

I do not have the money to get it fixed. Service centre prices are insane to say the least. Unless a fellow fanatic can help a brother out?

The advice I need... Will it not be better to replace the entire set of headlights with a nornal set? I.e. light unit with non xenon lights?

I am almost at witts end as I have meetings at night most days in the week, and driving without headlights are not only putting myself in danger, but fellow road users.

Ideally you should fix your xenons but if you want to downgrade to halogens I can help with that as I have many e46 halogen headlight spares here that can be swapped in. Let me know.

I'm guessing the ballasts / ignitors are gone hence you are getting high quotes.

Im sure you could bypass that and fit an aftermarket ballast and xenon bulb from china mall or maybe one of the forum sponsors can help you out.

Is it the bulb or the ballast that has blown? You can get cheap D2S bulbs of ebay or most spares shops as a temp solution. It wont last as long or be as bright but will take you out of danger for a while

i think for future cost and "reliability" it might be better to switch over to halogen bulbs.
