He currently has a 1998 MX-6 which is worked in every way. I have worked on it and driven it and it is by far the best sounding V6 I know of. The car goes like stink too so its got the go for the show.

thanks for the reply gizmo im thinking if i have to rebuild my engine i will stroke it out to ether 3.0 or 2.8 right now 2.8 looks like a better bet...

mazda really hit a miss when they decided to make the MX6 Fwd they awesome cars otherwise if they made them Rwd like the MX5 they would have had another cult car...

Would have been a brilliant car if it were RWD, its the only thing that lets it down. My friend wants RWD now, hence the move to BMW.

I would rather recommend going for a 330i engine, as you will be going through the trouble of swapping the engine so you might as go for the best one in the range.



@Gizmo: How will you be going about the engine swap? Going to get a complete 330i donor car and swap the engine and all the related electronics over to the touring (this has the added bonus that a couple of other 330i bits like the brakes can also be swapped). Or will you just be getting M54B30 engine and putting it in place of the current engine? Would the electronics be compatible?

330i brakes are on the cards, engine will be swapped over and I will use the 2.5lt wiring harness and ECU. Dastek uni q will complete the package.

Yeah, 2 x 3.0lt swaps into 2 tourings in the next few months. Going to be identical builds for both cars except one silver and one white, got my work cut out for me the next few months.:fencelook:

Aaah ok, WRT the 6 speed box I guess you have to wait and get lucky......bit more of the latter I think

Gizmo impressive work , since you the G in engine swapping , what's the best engine you can fit into a E46 ? Besides 330i ? Staying with BMW engines ? M3 E46 ? E36 ? M5 ? Just planning for the future and how much will the transplant cost with gearbox ? ECU ? Thanks a lot
