E46 Touring build

A close friend of mine has just bought a 2004 e46 325i touring. He asked me to find him one as its his first bmw, I found this one in the junkmail for him.
It has 18" ellipsoids, accident free, dvd screen head rests, 1 owner, very neat condition too. We picked it up for R75k, reason being is the auto box is toast and out the car already. Thats no problem because I will be swapping a 6spd manual box into it and converting it to a 330i sportpack touring. I will update this project as it goes along. Anyway, here are the pics:

Are you gonna swap out the entire 325i engine for a 330i's engine or only swap a few parts ? Really interested in this swap

IIRC we never had 330i touring models sold locally . Can the present motor be converted to 3 litre or are you swapping motors , ie M54 and its 6-speed box ? ,or is 6 speed box a e9x box ?

I can convert the motor to 3.0lt but Im gonna just do a engine swap. I have a E36 4 door m3 6spd box that will go into the touring.

Wouldn't just changing the crank to the 330i crank "convert" the engine into that of a 330i's?

Couple that with a remap it should be allot cheaper.

The 3.0lt head has bigger ports, so does the intake manifold. The 3.0lt throttle body is bigger including the MAF and plumbing. Injectors are also bigger, so it isn't as easy as swapping a 3.0lt crank and rods.

thought the heads were the same but the cams were different? lest thats what i read... do you know if the M52TUB28 has the same head as the M52TUB25? i know the intake plumbing (maf, throttle, ect) is the same size...

this is going to be epic! may there be no budget issues that prevent this car from being done in the next couple of months:rollsmile::thumbs:

I was told this by Boetie Budler, I haven't done my own research yet on it but I will do.

My friend isn't shy to spend money on cars as his budget was R150k, the car cost R75k, you do the math.:fencelook:
