E46 M3 SMG Paddleshift DIY Fix

I encountered a sticky shif-problem with my M3's upshift(right side) paddle. I thought the micro switch might be faulty and needs replacement and enquired at my local dealer, R2400 !!

I was so fedup with the news of such a ridiculous price, and could'nt buy only the upshift switch, it's a unit consisting of the up- and down shift switches, a small 2-wire harnass connecting the two and the teeny weeny connecting plug. The price-making bosses of BMW will end up in hell if they carry on like this.

So, I decided to fix it myself, and I did. It took me approx half an hour!!

!

I first checked the switch's functioning after dismantling the steering wheel, by selecting between fisrt and second gear a few times, guess what, there was nothing wrong with it. So I spaced up the little tube into which the little switch knob fits with approx 1,5mm thick card board, put it back in position, voila!! Its fixed. Took it for a spin, going like new:rollsmile:
