e46 320i A/t 2002 Gearbox problem

Can anyone help me please.My cars revs are going up and down from about 2500rpm through the gears and in top gear it feels like the car is jerking slightly and when you gear down to climb a hill the revs go to say 4000rpm and it waits then the revs jump to 5000rpm

bud if i can give any advice, take the car to somewhere that has a machine that can test for faults, as this sounds like early warning signs of your box packing up, but if you can pick it up early im sure they can fix it

You dont want to be like me spending 17k to fix mine

Fully agree with St Lunatic, do not drive the car until you have that fixed.

It sounds like the valve body on the box has gone, which will be expensive to fix, but it can be fixed with the box still in the car, and should be about 3,000 to 6,000 to get done. However if you drive it further, you run the risk of damaging the internal clutches, which is a 15 to 25k to fix.

Anf if you must drive it, say to the repair shop, avoid traffic at all costs, if you cant do that, spend 500 bucks and have it trucked to the shop, or....

I may however be completly wrong, and your box is dead already, lets hope not

Guys the oil was dirty so it was changed and cost me R650 now its sorted
