Welcome to the forum, bet your weather is worse than ours! The oil level sensor is in the sump, and known to give trouble on occasion. This is the yellow light. The red means low pressure, bad news as stated, but could be caused by your oil itself rather than the pump. Had similar symptoms on an N42 1.8 which turned out to be the valve control system leaking oil. Get it checked, new engine otherwise! Oil rings will usually give a blue smoke, not white, but with all the emission control gadgets even this is not always true. White smoke is water or brake fluid getting into the combustion chambers, leaky head gasket perhaps. Has the car ever overheated? Good luck, and say hi to Santa for us down here!
