Morning guys some news , after taking off every belt on the car i tried to turn motor again :thumbdo: nothing .

Im getting so much mixed reasons by different guys.

One guy says to me the bmw v8s are known for cracking the sleeves in the block and causing motor not to turn , is this true ?

2. another mechie says valve dropped and caused motor not to turn and this is a common issue on the bms.

3. Another guy says car bent rods and this is the cause it does turn ?.

Anyway ive been getting qoutes by private people and workshops ranging from R10k to 20k just on labour .

After countless checking out and asking questions I opted to take the car to Infinity Performance workshop in Landsdowne . We loosened the prop on the car and hooked it up to a tow truck took car there Saturday .

They will be stripping today I hope its something I can afford .:nonono::cry::argh: will keep you gents updated and will try to take pics when I get there later today to see whats the verdict .

but if it something to do with the crank, rods or block . Im gonna start smoking , funny thing is I have another 2 vehicles which is my scooter and my opel i can use but i seriously dont care of them , I really want this car back theres just something of owning a bm and the way it drives after getting back into my opel yesterday after 5months it was horrible lol . everything's was so loud and hard .:yuck:

Ok been busy with a couple of other things, but sump is off finally and doest look to good and I have no idea what it is but there is alot of plastic yes plastic type of parts laying in lots of small pieces of it :thumbdo: probably very bad news , they stripped left and right bank heads and to expose timing chains and stuff but I was to scared to go back and see whats going on .

But i have to face it today will let you know soon what officially happened .

timing chain guide rails are plastic

Is that bad thing can why would they brake can they cause motor to lock up ?

I can get a M62 engine up in Bloem for decent price but im scared of buying a 2nd hand motor and ending up with the same prob .

Sorry just editing this post instead of another post .

Got back from car, lucky not water damaged at all . RODS ,cranks alles is ok even sleeves , so it wasnt hydrolocked .

Timing chains snapped and broked guides and caused valves to hit pistons. so its a couple of valves that needs replacing ect .

Now im just waiting on the price the main problem lol .

but atleast motor can be saved so im abit happy about atleast :thumbdo::=):

Sounds like you got lucky.

Most definitely not.

Possibilities: Bent valves, broken teeth on the sprockets, holes in timing cover or even in the block, damage to vanos unit.... the list goes on.

Best would be to inspect rather than guess.

He says the rods, crank, and sleeves are OK. Considering that the water could've totally killed it, I'd say he's lucky.

That said, still sounds like a lot of damage... so not that lucky :mmm:

Gents Right cylinder head is off no valves damaged at all all pistons look good and sleeves.

They stil busy removing the Left cylinder head I have no idea why they taking so long removing the 1 head something about exhaust welded straight and no flange .

He says motor still wont turn with the right head off .

So the disaster definite going to be the left side . I pray hard its only valves and not alot of other stuff im already sick:yuck:

Morning everybody now Im lost both cylinder heads off and they PERFECT no valves nothing bent even head gaskets look good after inspecting weirdest thing now MOTOR WILL STILL NOT TURN ?

WTF I give up.

I decided just to buy a complete other M62 Vanos motor with 210k on the clock .

Im now tired of this engine as it still locked up.

Removing engine on Monday completely rather and just gonna fit other motor coming out a 540i Rolled car .

this current M62 I will either build up again in my spare time or i will sell it for parts.

considering the alternator, starter, cylinder heads, cams tappet covers all ok and all the plastics .

I personally dont know what going inside on with the block as I never expieranced this with any car ever.

Best option for me is just to fit a other motor lots of guy are telling me fit a 1uz lexus v8 but I want to keep it german just going to extra care of this one .
