March 2024 Updates

1. Racing Diffs LSD Conversion
Installed by Autospec Transmission. Pricey labour but will sleep soundly at night knowing the best hands were on the job.
- Type 188k gear type
- Motul LSD Gear Competition Oil (75W140)
- 2.93 differential
- Refurbished diff including disassembly and seal replacements.

Car handles much better and it’s so much easier to throw!

2. Replaced broken volume knob on radio
Was struggling to decrease/ increase volume and only looking at getting a double DIN at a later stage so getting the OEM part was a quick fix.

To be done soon:
- Engine mounts
- Steering rack boot
- Brake callipers

There have been so many conflicting reviews on these Racing Diffs LSD units, would love to hear your feedback as you pile on the mileage/abuse (y)

Completely understand where the conflicting views come from- this is not a true LSD but rather a compromise to lock up the rear wheels. Also it seems that even if it is installed and is a micrometer off then it will result in catastrophic damage to the diff.

So far, I have been enjoying the last rains before Winter! It does seem to have a millisecond of lag once the car turns in but it does lock up every single time so that’s great!

I also thought the 2.93 diff would be abit too long but still enjoy the familiarity of the OEM spec gear ratios with the added benefit of a locked up rear diff.

I am considering installing a E36 LSD unit in my diff - requires machining and there have been some stories of the diff whining afterwards - not ideal for a daily and would probably cost in the region of 10k, so I am a bit hesitant...

Keep us updated on the Racing diff please

That looks like good fun, defs locking up nicely. Roughly what mileage have you done on the diff so far?
