Here you go. Based on the year model it seems to be the M54 engine. If you can give me the last 7 digits of your vin I will get the exact specs.

Cylinder head torque, or cylinder cover?

Depends on whether your block is steel or aluminium. It'll be 30/40NM and then two 90-degree turns. Find out exactly which engine you have and let us know.

It's like I didn't say anything. 30/40NM, and then two 90 degree's! All in correct sequence obviously.

Hi Guys! Hope you all doing well. I need some advice with a vehicle that i'm struggling with.

It a E46 320d 2004" facelift. The previous engine I had in, turbo went and damaged crank and conrods cause all the oil ran out the turbo. So I bought a other engine from a buddy of mine that owns a scrapyard and this motor had just over the 140 000km on the clock.

Anyway, fitted the motor connected all the plugs and fit a new thermostat and alternator and the vehicle didn't want to start.

It showed me the DDE light as soon as you put on the ignition. I then checked all the fuel pumps and the pump in the tank as well as the fuel pump under the passenger seat are all working. Im not to sure about the high pressure pump on the engine though

I also tested the glow plugs and found that there were 3 of them faulty and replaced them with working ones.

I get diesel to the common rail but not sure whether the injectors are injecting into the cylinder although what I have noticed is if you swing the engine white smoke comes out of the EGR valve.

If I remove the glow plugs from the cylinder head and put them in the plug and earth it, as soon as I switch on the ignition, the glow plugs don't glow. I changed the glow plug unit that's situated near to the starter but still the same.

Car still does not want to start and the DDE light still remains on as soon as you switch on the ignition and crank. I don't think the glow plugs should have that big of an effect on starting especially seeing that's its so freakin hot over here and after I have been cranking the engine for so long

HHHHHEEEEELLLPPPPP:cry::cry:
