So... New pulley on.
I drove the car tonight, I still have the old basefile tune on, which is overfueling like crazy, I got 60km off R200. lol. The tune is meant to be rich for safety reasons while we do AFR readings, but as you know, we were not getting proper boost, so we couldn't do proper AFR's.
That being said, the boost gauge now reads 4psi at 8000rpm. So, yes, We now HAVE BOOST. Now we can do AFR's and get rid of this BASE file that is ruining my fuel consumption.
Car pulls pretty well. Actually really well. Now we can start tuning and checking air intake temps. We have the meth kit ready, that will go in next I guess.
The smaller wheel which was just installed by the legendary A1exander is a 2.82" pulley. But we have a 2.62" Pulley sitting in my garage which Burg brought in. I am so tempted to slap that on now. :fencelook:
That even smaller pulley should give us 7psi. Boost is definitely addictive.
My only quarrel I have with the car is that this f***ing blow off valve is loud. Jeez. Ridiculously loud. Will need to figure out how to quieten her down. You'll hear me coming ten kilometers away.
First kill of the night was some kid in a modded Scirocco R. I presume it was modded because it had stickers on it. Must be at least 25wkw there because of the stickers. :fencelook:
Anyway, on the PVT test track, near Camaro onramp, this Scirocco joins the road in the far lane, he's gently cruising along, so am I. I'm in 6th gear, cruise control on. I'm watching him. I know his kind, I know what is coming. Suddenly he sees me, and BOOM, he gears down, jumps across two lanes and flies right past me, obviously trying to bait me.
I bite, naturally... I want to see what this car can do. I've seen way too many videos and stories of Scirroco R's beating e46 M3's. So, I give chase... and reel him in pretty quickly... and Jezebel is biting at his exhaust pipes. He moves over... I pass easily, but dump the blow off valve right next to him just to see if I might be able to deafen the poor sod. I'm sure I saw him shit himself...
We go again, and same thing, I easily pull ahead until stupid speeds arrive. I can feel the car pull back on timing as I shift through the gears. Tune file is not happy. I slow down, guy pulls up next to me, gives me thumbs up.
And then I relax... no more testing. Got to get the tune right. I'm excited to see what the car has to offer.
A1exander and burgy, you gentlemen have built a good car. I'm sure she's got tonnes more to give...
Thanks again Peter for the epic help.
PS. I changed out my power steering pump at ZF yesterday. Turns out the car actually had an aftermarket no name brand pump on from the previous owner. Peter invented new swear words installing the new pump today. But I tell you, the difference this pump has made in the steering feeling is like night and day. I cannot believe I drove this car thinking I actually had power steering for 2 years. This is such a pleasure to drive now.
More to come.
