Shame, this car's engine has been pulled apart so many times, she spends more time on trestles than on her own wheels...:nonono:
Good thing the block is cast or you would have heli-coiled it 6 times over already...

If only you could be here to see the excellence of the most recent build by GTech.

I am accustomed to silicone and various fasteners however missing bolts securing the gearbox to the block ........this is a first for me.

youtube links for those of you who may wish to view my manicured hands.
Stay tuned.

I really hope we don't see them, because that would mean your are without your gloves, which spells disaster for this engine.

Remember - the people who put this engine together previously did not wear uber gloves, and look where that brought Chris

You guys cannot believe the amount of silicone Gtech used on this engine. There was no sump gasket on the car. They just melted about 50 condoms and poured them into the sump and put the block on. Idiots.

Anyway, I have some great footage from the stripdown yesterday, will upload today. Stay TUNED....

We have spent the day cleaning parts and bolts.

We have an extensive (read that as expensive) list of missing bolts as well a a bracket or two.

Tomorrow the head will be worked on with some eye wateringly expensive valves that have been brought in from Obama land and we should start assembly by Wednesday.

I have no pics of the engine tear down as Crash was playing with his phone camera shooting a video and taking some stills so we are waiting on him to post.

Stay tuned.

Here is the vid. Took four hours to upload, thanks to my crappy internet...

Anyway, the video is 1080p full HD. So those with lekker connections, go crazy and enjoy it. This video is the stripdown of Jezebel's S54 engine. You will see how poorly G-tech put the engine back together, and the reason why this car has had so many oil leaks this past year.

We had missing bolts all over the engine. For example, the gearbox was being held on by less than half the required bolts needed. I mean, BMW put bolts there for a reason, why not place all the required items on?

In some places, they just put Toyota bolts in, which obviously have different torque specs to BMW's requirements of the S54 engine. I am very angry, but thank God for Peter.

None the less... Here is the film.

The sump gasket that was used was paper and silicone.
The original gasket as specified for this engine is steel and rubber.

We shall post pics on re assembly.

btw that camera is amazing given the available light.

I find it amazing that someone can take your money and willingly and knowingly do such a horrible job! :argh:
The simple fact that they can say "that will do" when they charge for premium workmanship and premium products shows that they were looking to escape with as much money as possible. :argh:
Thank goodness for people like A1exander!
The forum thanks you!

Crash, great vid man, lets hope it's happiness from here on in

Yoh, a bit of a taste for the overly dramatic there, hey Crash?

Sad to see so many issues on the motor - but the bottom-end is bulletproof, so now just to put everything back together properly, and she'll be fantastic again.
