Airbags aren't 50K, more like 6K...it's the dash thats expensive as it will need replacing.

OK let me understand this please.

All the airbags in the car have deployed.
Dent Doctor (leonard) says that airbags will be R50 000.
You say that airbags will be R6 000.

Clearly you are mistaken in the first instance and in the second instance I shall refrain from commenting as it will be perceived to be rude.

pffft

Well there...this is my car...

Clearly it was fucked up so as you can SEE my airbags have deployed blowing out my front windows and breaking the windscreen and dash...
Cost of airbags from BMW who fixed the car = +/- R6k each...dash was alot more expensive and had to wait over a month for one to be shipped...BMW repaired the car and have done an excellent job...feels new again.....so thats how I know what they cost!!!.....Sorry for jacking this thread..

Sorry to hear about the crash man, lucky you're ok!

Did both you guys have passengers or did the passenger airbag detonate regardless?

There were no passengers but they just all blew off..but no damage to windows at all..

I had occupants front and rear...I think the airbags only deploy on impact if your saftey belt is on and/or if the cars wheels leave the ground....not 100% sure tho but this is what the repair manager at BMW told me as those were 2 factors in my accident..
Had an 11 page report of the car and cost to repair from BMW:yikes: including angle of impact, condition of chassis, area of most impact, alles...

hink they all blew cos BMW took short cut as there is no sensor on the F30 to check whether front passenger is wearing seatbelt or not. That is the only way the computer can tell whether the seat is occupied and trigger the airbag to launch IMHO

Bad news guys. Just got the 11 page report from BMW its a total write off...92% of retail price..Will see the next steps from insurance[/align]

From the pic it will definitely not be a writeoff. A friend of mine had a head-on with his X3 a few months ago and the damage was A LOT worse. They fixed it up very well at an Authorized BMW repair center.

If i'm still paying for the car and its less than 1 year old, January 2013, what's the likelihood that they will replace the car versus just paying off the bank.

eish I wonder if it is wise telling them to pay bank, they might think you deliberately damaged the car. Insurance is sticky

I would definately let them write it off! Its a very new car im sure insurance will pay most of the money back so that you can go get a new one.
