Le boss , so it moves and has a tightish spot ? Mechanical damage ?
I presume then its not just seal replacement etc ,and may get expensive if the main shaft etc have to be replaced . I would trust a bigger firm in Cape Town over a place around here - more customers dowm there .
If you check Power Steering Services in the Yellow pages you may be lucky .
Paul , just like replacing the copper washer on the sump plug , it should be done here .
:rollsmile: Ray, you and I know these things, but not all of us do, and you'd be amazed how often that second copper washer is left out completely by pro mechanics and diyers alike, hence the warning.:rollsmile:
Pro CV & Steering in East London quoted R3650 for a e36 power steering rack recon . this includes labour , vat and wheel alignment .
Rechrome the rack inner about R500 extra if required .
Seems a little heavy, but that's life in the E. Cape. Mine was R1900 incl the re-chrome, plus R650 to fit, no alignment needed.(They don't disturb the tie rods.) Still beats the stealers at R9500 + fitting by a long way though. Good luck.:rollsmile:
