Okay, let me set a few things straight.

Got great news ! The guy assessing the damage gave me a call and told me what the costs are involved and what parts needed to be replaced. First things first, the cost of these parts are nowhere CLOSE to what some claimed. The air bags cost R10k per bag x 2. The dash needed to be replaced. That cost R9k. The windshield and front bumper needed to be replaced. That's R17k. The engine was fine, no changes or modifications done to it. No crumple zones.
So the cost for everything including labor was just over R50k. These are BMW OEM parts. So those are the facts. My car will not be written off. And the bonus ? My cars value will not go down because of this. The guy doing the assessment said that the damage done will not be part of the history because there were no crumple zones and the engine was not repaired or modified (or changed). However he said that the air bags deployed incorrectly. Based on the amount of damage shown, they should NOT have been deployed. My entire car was intact, the front bumper was slightly dislodged, but no crumple zones.
According to him in order for both bags to have deployed the speed I was traveling would have needed to have been FAR higher and the front of the car would most likely have been completely destroyed. That's how serious it is when air bags go off, yet the front of my car showed no deformities whatsoever, just a few dents in the paint work, so that's something that BMW themselves will have to figure out.
Man guys, I'm so over the moon. Just so happy that everything is going to be okay. I was worried that things might turn sour but for once, things went my way. I get to drive my BMW again and I thought I might not. I wish I could have avoided the accident entirely (have to wait 2 weeks to get my car), but this is the best news I could have hoped for.
The guy said that the car would not be declared a 'code 3'. No engine modifications. Just air bags, dash, windscreen and front bumper.
Does your car have any extra's, such as Xenon's or "non standard equipment", because all of this adds to the price.
My car has the Xenons and the rear parking sensors (automatic rain sensors), climate control....etc, it's the version with all the extras.
Now the bad part is, that you have motor plan, so it has to be fixed by BMW SA, and it will have comments on the motorplan, no way out of it.
I'm not sure, all I know is what the guy told me and I trust him. I was told that air bags would cost R30k each, others told me the dash would cost 10x would it actually costs. So far, the pricing is no where close to what I assumed it was going to be. I have to assume that the rest is also true. He said that the car wasn't badly damaged because it wasn't, the air bags deployed but that was mainly it. The front bumper and wind screen. Like I said, not entirely sure how it works but I trust this guy.
