Brake pads on BMW E60 550i

Used them before? Hey didn't have for my car though.

So tonight Frikkieh helped me to put in the pads, and just in time too. Had about 0.5mm on the pads left, and sensor melted.
So pads in, got home, and checked when last I did brakepads, and I did last year, 26 April, and worked out the km's done... 15204km's done on a set of Agape pads. :rollsmile:

that ecs tool looks real flimsy i wonder how long it will last...

i just use the old pad and a G clamp to push the piston in...

I just used my two thumbs to push the caliper back.:thumbs: in rare cases a G-clamp is required.

I would be interested to hear what your experience with these pads are cois (you also like using your brakes ), cause I had them on the 330i for a while, and I have to say I was happy for a while, then they just became crap almost overnight. The bite from my brakes felt worse than the brakes on the 318i, that had the exact same pads in :thinking:

I must admit the last car i tried that on was an uno after that i gave it up as a bad idea :rollsmile: next time i do brakes i will try that it will be way quicker if i can just do it by hand...

I had cheapish pads in one of my cars and NEVER again. Resulted in me suffering from brake fade and not stopping in time. YEAH, I hit a bakkie in it's arse (step bar) and screwed my car with like R15k damage many years ago so this was quite a bit of damage.

Like I say, never again. A few rands for the 30-40000kms range isn't worth saving as opposed to a far greater risk.

Cois, I have used Bilsteins from BEMOW's in the past. I suggest you change them around 50% life to avoid inferior performance and uneven wear.

Unless if these from Goldwagon are better quality.

Midas sells something similar, but looks better quality wise. Used one last week when helping a friend change his discs and pads on his Merc. The screwdriver between the disc and old pad trick is a lot quicker though.

The disc is extremely strong though and the piston doesn't usually require that much force. I generally open the fluid bottle cap to reduce the pressure.

oh yes, I always forget to do that :flyfun:, just gotta wrap a rag around the bottle to prevent spillage. :thumbs:

Ok, got the pads and sensor at goldwagen for R460 :rollsmile:

Where is this GW Cois?

I just got prices now as well. GW Front Pads R495 and sensor R95. Rears R375 and sensor R80. That's as good a deal as I can get.

BMW on the other hand, R1284.71 front pads and R200.24 for sensor, Rears R962.55 and R211.12 for Sensor. And I ask him what brand, "Eish it's BMW original only. We don't stock anything else" Leo Haese Centurion.
