I just get them from the dealer near me. They usually give me good discount on pads and discs. Anything from 15%-25%. I just find that the BMW pads work best with BMW discs.

Hi gents,

I need to replace my front pads soon. Any recommendations?

Anyone use the EBC stuff?

I've used EBC Ultimax (the bog standard stuff) on a Rover 600, an Avensis and an E36 and am happy with them. I do mostly relaxed driving with the occasional spirited acceleration just for kicks but rarely need to brake hard from high speeds.

Depends what you want out of them. I like Ferodo DS2500, but they noisy and have crap cold bite.

used Ferodo before. i understand BMW stocks Ferodo unbranded ofcos.

anyway i think the powerbrake kit uses Bendix which is what i am on now.

wouldn't Ferodo's be fine? even braking from 200+ should be ok.

Thanks for the responses.

I drive fairly hard so I don't want to take chances, hence the alternatives.

you get discount straight off the bat or because you know someone there. I don't know BMW discounting pads at all.

If you do normal driving Ferodo or ATE should be fine.
At the moment I have AGAPE pads at the back and they are not good.

I've used Bendix before, but find that the Ate pads from BMW have a better initial bite. The Bendix pads need some heat before they bite properly. I am a spirited driver and my pads only last about 20k-25k km's. I always ask the parts salesman for discount. If you don't ask, they will not give you any discount. I have one specific parts salesman I deal with at Auto Bavaria, Jannie.

the redstuff is higher friction than oem but still works from a cool temp so it works very well on the road... they will eat disks oem quicker and go though a squealing stage just after the brake in coating wares off after that the quiet and deliver more bite :)

Lots of brake fitment places these days claim that ATE is no longer what they used to be and don't promote this over Ferodo.

What do you guys think?
