BMW oil use

Hi guys

My E90 320D's oil warning light comes on periodically. Does this model use oil?
The first time it came on I had to fill oil. It went away and now it's back.

I know from my previous BMWs that when you start using oil or water something is wrong. Do I need to get it to an agent before the motor plan expires? The last time I raised it as a concern when it went for a service, I was told its normal.

My car is now on 144k km and never used a drop of oil, never even filled it once between services. Only time that cap gets opened is at a service.

:fencelook: i don't think it should be using that much oil then there must be a leak somewhere. it is custom to do everything possible before motorplan expires if you decide to keep it. There is life after motorplan.

So far I've only had to put 1 pint in. Its usually just on the low of the dipstick when I have to fill.

The previous time it leaked oil, they had damaged the oil sump plug's seal.

:0 all cars use oil only you don't notice it because there is some fuel contemination which makes up the difference and so the oil level appears to have not moved

Some E90's use more than others, but there will be times that you will have to top up the oil on your E90.

Keep and eye on it ,check the dipstick every now again as it could be a faulty oil level sensor.I know the E46 had a sickness with those sensors :yuck:

Does the E90 320D have a dipstick? My E90 330i only has electronic "dipstick" accessed with control next to steering wheel.

Nope they don't, only e90s with dipsticks are the diesels if I'm not mistaken
