Hi, this is my recently acquired 535i with my E90.
There's still lots of work to be done on the interior, so no pics yet.

Good day guys/ New on here

Hopefully i can add my findings of the 540i/6 on here.
Dad found the e34 540i/6 speed no.49 with 143000km on the clock. Has not really been taken care of but that's about to change.
According to the car's papers it only had one owner not sure if previous owners did not register it. But it needs alot of tlc. Will up load pic's soon

Well it seems I’m Addicted to E34's
As we know I'm the guardian of Budliegh’s ex E34 540iA – Gletscherblau
So this is my 6th 5 series and 4th E34 so far
Still prefer the driving style of E34 over the newer models, plus they are just good value
History of 5series I’ve /having the joy of driving over the years
1. My first BMW! Was in my mid 20’s at the time , a E28 520I Auto -silver, blue cloth interior, with sunroof - dropped a valve, so the, head was upgraded, lovely cruiser. Many holiday trips - Stolen at gun point after 3 failed attempts to steal from shopping parking lots over 2 weeks – just love JHB
2. E34 -525i Man, M50 motor, White with grey leather, sunroof – Lovely machine, and light on juice, yet fast as well. Good machine, Sold with 400000km’s on it. New owner ruined it. saw it 3 years later nearly bought it back , but it was to rusted
3. E34 – 540I auto, Silver with Black leather, sports seats with bum warmers and sunroof. My first taste of V8’s I think the addiction for V8’s started here. Lovely machine to drive. Rust caused the electric’s to get flooded twice. Had the rust removed twice, but too far gone? Sold it as running spares , New owner keep it for 12 months and sold it on for double, It is in Durban on Gumtree for what I sold it for, but now the gearbox is in limp mode and it looks rough
4. E39 -540I bought a fellow forum friend. Just had to have it. A blue 540i -6 speed man, with a LOUD sports exhaust. We had fun with this one. Killed by an idiot in a bakkie who does not know what a stop sign means. Thanks to the strength of the car, my Dad and his dog where not hurt at all. Still peeped off and the tow company drove another nail into my pain. Sold it as spares. The motor and gearbox live on other project I hear.
5. E34 535i , auto, red , my late mum’s last car. Swapped my dad my old merc (280S -1979 model) for it. It is a rust bucket, and the electrics are packing up. So instead of it going the second hand spares route, it is going the #race car route. We busy reaping the interior out, for the roll cage. Did try doing a track day, but got to track and alarm system decided to act up and disable the motor. Joys of older cars the merc has no computers at all, maybe should take that back.
6. Latest addition or addiction, E34 540i- Auto, after seeing it was maybe for sale, I think it took me 5 minutes to decide I wanted it. 1400km test drive home, confirmed I’m addicted to V8‘s and e34’s, It passed the RWC today.
7. Looking for a e34 TOURING next

Will take E34's for a breakfast , to take some "nice" photos soon

hi guys...is it possible to change an engen of e34 520 to 525?

I believe it is. Is it the M50 engine you have in your e34? You 'could' think about going for the newer M52 engines 2.5 or 2.8?

I think all the info is out there on the web. A few searches and you'll be there

I came across this thread via a search on Tapatalk but I am glad I did!

Recently acquired an E34 520i in technoviolet. Automatic M50 engine runs sweet. A/c is seized so I need to get that sorted. The power steering pipe has a leak so looking to replace that this week.

Full electric black comfort leather at the moment. Front seats have a twist going on with them so I might replace these with a nice e65 heated set I might be able to source

Had the all red hella thing going on but due to the laws here in the U.K. I had to change it up.

Haven't really gotten round to snapping some pictures of the inside. I think I'm mesmerised by that colour.

Totally original, apart from the smoked Hellas at the back. Going to get some smoked Hellas for the front, freshen up the kidneys and headlight surrounds and oh I forgot to mention..managed to source this pretty cheap

Is this thread still going? I have a E34 540i/6 in Daytona Violet (BB82043) with 319 000 and I need a bit of help with it to get it back to it's former glory. The pictures I have are unfortunately too big.:fencelook:

Zach is this you? Love your car man! Try downloading a free picture resizer to upload pics of your ride, seems it has to be under 2MB to upload

Nice to see another 540/6 on the forum, Sable! When you post a pic, there is a link under the text box where you can upload a pic, it has to be 2MB or smaller it seems.

Here is my 540/6, number 68, one of the last ones in Alpine white with light grey/white individual interior. Car has been neglected and has a lot of rust, so I'm going to break her unfortunately...not worth saving :dunnoanymore::fencelook:

Recently installed a S3,15 diff on her, really transforms the car, so much more responsive now. Car has 260 000km and still going strong besides a smokey start when the engine is warm...valve seals?

My 525i touring automatic...this will be getting full Alpina kit and the drivetrain from the 540/6 with some other surprises...Currently sitting at 360 000km and engine still going strong. Jatco auto box only has 1st and 2nd gears, so she is parked for now :thumbdo:

And then last, but not least, the M5, number 262 - i think this is the second last one made in SA, currently 230 000km on her. Me and a friend are in process of restoring her back to factory spec and condition, a lot of work, money and time gone in to her so far...

She needs a gearbox rebuild - previous owner ran car with a gearbox leak - gearbox had about 250ml of oil in it :rage:

Pity about that 540i/6 man!
But it's going to be an absolute blessing in that touring, but I just love touring's way too damn much!
Is that a splitty you have there in the garage?

Touring is going to be a super special machine when shes done...but time will tell. No its a lowlight bay, my first love :)

Yeah its a pity about the 540/6 - car is so rusted, the VIN number has rusted away, so car has AAPV numbers now :hammerhead:
