Do i need to change the plugs if i did it last inspection 2? Iv been told they only need to be done every 60 000 km

Hi Jason330i

In Pta I buy at Bemows spares at Souter Street next to Goldwagen, as for Oil Liqui Moly or Shell HX7, as for the plugs I think you must also change them, my 2cent :=):

Oil and Air Filters are cheap from the dealer, so may as well use OEM.

OIl - really, for these engines it is much of a muchness, and what is more important is that the oil is changed every 10-12k km rather than what the car tells you.

Shell Helix Ultra 5w40; LiquiMoly 5w40; Castrol Magnatec professionl, etc will all be fine. Just stick with a BMW approved oil, and it will be ok.

If its inspection 2, then I would change the plugs, at least every 50 000km.

More importantly, have you changed the fuel filter? Most of the time, they have never been changed. So I would make sure you do it. Its about R1000 from BMW, you can get slightly cheaper aftermarket from the likes of Goldwagen and Masterparts. Just stick with a known aftermarket brand.

Other things you might want to get done if they have not been done in your ownership is a brake and power steering fluid flush. Coolant flush is a good as well if you are not sure when it was last done. Obviously if these have been done in recent times, then its not necessary.

If you have changed the fuel filter, then its fine.

5w30 is fine.

For me OEM filters which includes oil, pollen, air and fuel. I'm a fan Of Castrol so I use Edge 5w40 .

As AdiS says, OEM parts are not as expensive as you think. Just find a dealer that can offer up to 25% discount:coolShake:
