Thank you very much Gentleman

@Iceman12596 and @subloaded How do you connect your mobile device to the car's bluetooth? I can't figure it out at all. Managed to get to the Bluetooth PIN so I am guessing that is something..

Default pin is 0000 should be called Car BT or something long those lines

Finally figured it out, it was changed from those defaults to another random number. Now I have also doscovered that it only does phone calls and can't stream music from my phone... think I will just get an SD card to sort that problem out

Congrats, I had a 2013 A4 as well, nice car, very comfy.

The bluetooth connection was straight forward, the pin is either 0000 or 1234. It does show up during connection and you would just need to confirm.

I had the car for 3-4 years and no oil issues. Pretty solid car, no rattles etc

I had a manual, went well, decent power (especially mapped). Just don't try and launch it or change too hard :fencelook:

Wanted a manual as well but this one just spoke to me in a way I can't even explain. Fingers crossed I get no issues. Does take some time to get used to these CVT boxes because unlike the stronic. This feels like its always in neutral and when you pull off from a stop I have to let it crawl before I put my foot on the accelerator otherwise it builds revs then gives you like a 3 -5 seconds delay before it starts moving.

My 2010 B8 1.8T manual was better built and better finished than my 2017 F30.

However, I don't miss the oil consumption issue (your B8.5 should be fine).

Coolant bottle cracks seem to be common on this model (a few mates had this issue), so rather check coolant regularly.

No other big issues really.

Just check the timing chain and CVT at the next service.

The CVT does drone a bit, that is why I chose the manual back in 2010. But, if you adjust your driving style, it should be a comfortable cruiser.

Got it booked for next week at a mechanic just to make sure all is good. They serviced the car before I picked it up but knowing stealerships they probably didn't change filters

Congrats!

Im also looking for one of these.

These have the Gen 3 1.8tfsi engine, which is actually the smae engine as the Facelift polo GTI. very reliable and tuneable engines.

Manual even better, no need to worry about the very unreliable Multitronic boxes.

did anyone find the clutch pedal to close the foot rest? i kept cliping it with every time i pushed in the clutch.

super quiet ride, the audio system is very good.

many happy miles :bravo:

It is quit nippy for its size when I put it in S or Manual... The audio is amazing. I have AUDI concert, has many many speakers and options to make it even louder. Makes some descent bass too

yeah its a fantastic audio system. The Concert is a 10 speaker system, so either than a split system in each door, you actually have a speaker in the center of your dash, and if you look inside your boot, and look up, you will see an 8 inch sub on the parcel shelf. it comes with a 180watt amp if im correct.

enjoy it!

So my windscreen had a crack, go a new windscreen and then this error

capture_464060851.png

The guys at the windscreen place denied having done anything to the sensor even though they have to take it off when they change it :dunnoanymore:

Anyways contacted an AUDI dealership close to me to find out if they can sort it out and they wanted an arm and leg plus my first born. Contacted AUDI Sandton and they not only asked me to come in right away to have it checked out but also replaced it free of charge and offered me coffee.

Guess service is not the same all round

After the festival of motoring on our way home my buddy asked to race with his 325i e90... so we did 4 runs

First two from dead stop and I left him there was nothing in it.

Next two were on the freeway one from 80kph which I took the lead and kept it. Second run was from 120kph, I took like a 3 second lead then he came after me overtook and just kept running away.
I am sure at the coast the results will very different.

Anyways so pics for likes... think I might need some spacers.

I always found tests between my 325i and A4 to be fun. A4 has a surge of torque and gets going in the city very easily.

Almost every rolling start the 325i gapped the A4.

City runs I have my doubts but it is a weird comparison to make. I say this because the A4 spins off the line and you've got to let it roll ahead a bit before you plant it. Almost like an unfair advantage to the 325i.

From the get-go if you plant it and maintain boost then A4 really pulls. Definitely does not feel like a 125kw car :cartel:

I do feel that at the coast the 325i might be much faster than up here... Will be down in Durban sometime in the next weeks or so. Are you up for this very important scientific experiment?

These CVT boxes nothing happens when you want it to happen but then when it happens it all happens at once and then it spins and the traction control can't contain the power and it all goes out of hand.

It is a rather stupid comparison if I am honest but a fun one because its a nice feeling to ride that turbo boost wave and yet the Beema is sitting right on your door and that 6 cylinder sound.... :blowheart:

Some nice goodies to be fitted over the weekend. The normal tail pipes are a bit boring....

Turns there are plans for the weekend so I wrestled with these this morning. They just slide in nicely and the hemmed edge slides over the face of the current tail pieces and that's how it holds. Not sure how strong it is but feels rather "in there". Might look for some glue or something to make sure its stuck in there for good.

Anyways some pics... this is the only before pic I could find that shows the old exhausts

The new shinny tail pieces looking all shinny and tailpipy hmmm.... just a small picture as the car is very very dirty. Will swing by the car wash tomorrow and take proper pics.

You would probably want to visit an exhaust shop and have them put on a few tack welds on, where the tail piece meets the current exhaust, to ensure they don't come off.. Don't use glue.
