Need to be ready, can't be too certain

You would probably want to visit an exhaust shop and have them put on a few tack welds on, where the tail piece meets the current exhaust, to ensure they don't come off.. Don't use glue.

Thanks

The heat generated might melt off the glue neh, I will find out from my nearest exhaust place what they can do for me.

I am looking at these rims at the moment but putting the money aside slowly. Love rotors

Go the tailpipes from my buddy, he had them on his A5 Sportsback at the time he said they cost R630 from AUDI but that was some 5 years ago or so then they went into storage when he sold it.

There is a nice multi spoke rim from Tiger Wheel - called Daytona.
I had that on my 2010 B8.
It looks quite good in 18 inch and fills the arches nicely, when fitted with 245/40 tyres.
It had spigot rings to fit the B8 hub, but these were never an issue and (once the TSW badges were hidden), the rim looked OEM.

Sigh...

Got this error the other day turns out the thermostat that checks the temperatures of the fluids when the car goes off with the Stop/Start thingy has died. Audi has agreed to pay for the replacement and cover all costs. Car is going in tomorrow and hope it doesn't come back with other issues....

Good will,

They say according to their Certified Pre-Owned things it must have been inspected before it was sold and since I haven't had the car for that long it can't be my fault.

R9k for the part and another ridiculous amount for the labour.

Car came back smooth as silk from Audi, asked to see the old part that they took out just to make sure they actually changed it. Can't trust stealerships...

Anyways, got a small reminder that this is a long car. Managed to wipe off the paint from the pole but can't pull that dent by myself.
Need to hand it over to a professional. Got a R500 quote already to fix that.

I have owned the car for sometime now and I have done 3 long distance trips in it and I think I can make a review now for anyone who is interested in buying one.

The Good :tiptoe:

This is a cruiser, its meant to eat kilometers in great comfort and luxury. If you do long distances then this is your car. At 150kph cruise control and aircon on, drove from JHB to Nelspruit and back. Averaged 8.2L/100km which is not bad at all.

Massive boot, Seriously this boot is big. Enough to fit 2 adult males in there.

Will seat 5 adults comfortably with enough space behind me and I am 188cm long.

Audi concert radio is the best radio I have ever heard in any car I have owned in my life. Its not only loud, its very loud and crisp... I listen to a lot of reggae and you can hear the smaller instruments clearly. I love it. i have noticed that playing from SD card is louder and clear than from a CD of modulator.

There are two red lights that shoot down from the ceiling on to the center console. They create such a great ambiance at night. You can clearly see everything in the car but at the same time its not intrusive.

You can demist the side mirrors with a button by the side mirror adjusting knob.

The BAD :rage:

This particular CVT Gearbox is the worst type of gearbox to ever be fitted in a car, I had to go to AUDI and look for another B8.5 with a multitronic just to make sure my car was not dead because it feels dead. You need to rev it high from stand still before it decides to move. Put your foot down at any speed in drive and nothing happens... then slowly you build up speed and then out of nowhere BOOM... you are riding a wave of boost and this is NOT turbo lag. This is gearbox thinking weather on not to change gear or move up or or or is it a gearbox or a toaster. If you interested in this car please get a manual or STronic

When in drive and you open the drivers door, the handbrake comes on and you can't move even though you are on the brakes. This is annoying when you are leaving a mall parking and you have to put in that parking ticket and you can't reach so you open the door and when you are in again you can't go on.

When you are in Park and you open the drivers door the car switches off... :dunnoanymore: That means if you were driving and had the heater on for example, then you get to a garage to get some bread. You want to leave the engine running so people in the vehicle can enjoy the warm aircon while you dash out. Soon as you open the door then the engine is off, handbrake on

If you take off hard then the steering becomes harder because its one of those electronic rubbishes steering. Makes it hard to control the car under boost. This might not seem like a big deal but its very very terrifying.

There is a clicky thing under the accelerator pedal when you floor it and as far as I can tell.... this just makes it drop gear and rev very high then you wait for a bit before anything happens. In the Stronic A3 there was nothing like that as far as I can remember... Foot down and go.

Lack of cup holders in the back seats is rather strange

Back seats do not fold. Apparently its an optional extra and and option that was not selected on this particular car.

Bluetooth only does phone calls and no media streaming.

I don't think these Xenons are better than Halogens, At this point I am missing halogen dipped beams. The Flash beams are just on another level of brightness but these dipped beams i'm not sure.

Conclusion

I think so far I am happy with this car, it has not skipped a beat and seems solid built. I am going to be keeping it for a long time as I am focusing on other things in life beyond cars. Will just be doing service and maintenance on it. Not sure if the gearbox can take engine upgrades

Honestly F8ck this Multitronic box, had I known before that it was this bad I would have looked for a manual or STronic version.

Long post, here is some pictures...

That "bad list" is such a LOL because you've described it so well and I can relate :roflol:

Have to agree with the sound system - it is really good and the sound dampening is awesome.

I think if you disable auto stop/start and open the door then it won't turn the car off. Not 100% sure though...

wrt the gearbox, you cannot floor it off the line, it will spin. You gotta let it roll a bit and then go. If you nudging in traffic, be careful not to give it (substantial) gas, let go, and gas again. It will take off like a mofo for no reason whatsoever.

Your steering isn't hardening when you take off hard. I think its torque steer because I've had to correct it a couple times. Not like that's a bad thing...

However once you get used to driving it, it is really a nice, easy to live with, and smooth daily to be in.

PS stop carrying 2 adult males in your boot. That's quite gay :tease:
